Stepdad chef makes me sick

JUNGLE chef John Burton Race is a violent boozer who once caused a scare with a GUN, his step-daughter claimed last night.

Pretty Eve Dendle, 21, spat: “King of the Jungle? He is the biggest snake in it.

“He makes out he is a loving, caring man but he is nothing but a rat.”

The nanny thinks of the TV cook as her dad but spoke in anguish after he criticised her mum Kim, 42, this week for shutting his restaurant while he was filming the ITV1 show.

The closure of the New Angel in Dartmouth, Devon, was part of a bitter divorce row between the couple, married for 11 years — but Eve said the chef brought the trouble on himself.

She said: “I will always love him for being my dad but I hate him for the way he has behaved towards me and my family.”

The most terrifying episode, Eve claimed, was the night three years ago when she had to call the police in fear that Burton Race, below, was going to SHOOT her boyfriend Jason Powell, then 23.

She explained: “I was having a night in with Jason and dad was out with mum but when he came back he was drunk again and he started being really nasty and abusive to Jason.

“He mumbled something about a gun. Mum thought he was joking and then we heard the key go in the gun cabinet and we panicked.

“Mum was struggling with him in a utility room and I called the police and told them that dad had a gun and I was pretty hysterical.

“Then the gun went off with an incredible bang. It had gone off accidentally and blown a hole in the tiles in the floor.” Eve claimed John was a compulsive drinker, and revealed: “I have lost count of the times I have picked him out of hedgerows or got him to bed."

She also said he was violent towards her — on one occasion dragging her from the house by her hair when she refused to go to work in his restaurant. She was just 14.

Eve, of Reading, Berks, is the eldest of Kim’s four kids by her first husband. John and Kim have two children, Charles, ten, and Amelia, eight.

In March, Kim discovered a text message on his mobile that revealed John, 50, was having an affair with Suzi Ward, 40, in a neighbouring village — and that he had a three-year-old son by her.

Devastated Kim immediately kicked him out and started divorce proceedings.

Eve said: “I love him but he is a selfish and arrogant human being.”
