WAGs Boutique axed for 2008
Quote:
WAGs Boutique axed for 2008 REALITY TV hit WAGs Boutique has been axed – because England failed to qualify for Euro 2008.
The ITV2 show, where two teams of five footballers’ wives and girlfriends set up rival fashion shops, raised over £450,000 for charity.
Stars included Sun Page 3 favourite Nicola T – girlfriend of West Ham striker Bobby Zamora – as the girls peddled their wares for three months earlier this year.
But now ITV have decided NOT to give the show a second series.
A source at programme makers Off The Radar said: “We were told it would be commissioned again by ITV. But because the England football team failed to qualify for the Euro 2008 finals next summer, it is now off the schedule.
Disgrace
“The show worked so well on the back of the 2006 World Cup in Germany, where England made the quarter-finals. But now, with the team in disgrace and their WAGs out of fashion, it seems there is no place for it.”
Last night an ITV source said: “It’s true – WAGs Boutique isn’t coming back.”
Profits of £362,000 from the two temporary London shops – Bows and Better Half – went to help children at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The Better Half team also raised £90,000 for the Willow Foundation, which treats seriously ill young adults.
The Sun’s Nicola T sparked a fashion craze when she designed a range of trendy hoodie tops bearing the Great Ormond Street Hospital logo for the show.
