Default An Observation - What made the best series so succesfull?

Here's a little observation I made.
Has anyone else noticed, that the best big brother series has mature housemates, around their 20's.

In big brother 8, the majority of the housemates were about 18 - early 20's, and I think this effected the show.

However, series like BB5 and BB6 had housemates that were slightly older, and more mature for their age. I think this caused more arguments, as they each are about as mature as one another, thus making their personalitys contrast clearer. (If that makes sense)

Anyone else agree? Or Disagree?

Also, I think this allowed for stronger friendships/enemy bonds to be made.

Buuuummmmp.

1) Good and well thought about twists
2) Innocence towards twists and second guessing
3) A wide cross section of housemates
4) Controversial characters
5) Not many wannabes
6) New and exciting ideas- not a rehash of the old ones
7) Consistency and authority over rule breaks
8) Big Brother not inteferring

BB8 went against just about all of them and it turned into a complete mess. BB8 had no new ideas, it was just a remake on old ideas (apart from fake week) so it just turned into a best bits type show gone wrong.

What made BB5 successful:

1. Perfect cast of housemates
2. Group vs Group (Lip Gloss Bitches vs Jungle Cats)
3. Evil Theme
4. Well thought out tasks and twists

I don't think Big Brother will ever have a series as successful as Big Brother 5 again. They've had years to refresh the idea, add some interesting tasks, pick a really good group of housemates, but each year it's the same thing; wannabes and repeated tasks.

BB6 was great as well for similar reasons, one being the group V group thing; Maxwell, Anthony, Craig, Saskia V Makosi, Kemal, Vanessa, Derek, etc.
