Niko is by far my favourite GTA protagonist, his and Roman's banter actually has me in tears with laughter, especially on that cutscene where they make you go on a date with that Tom Rivas guy. xD The love meet profile Roman made for Niko is just lol.

If you ever get Stuck on a Task
go and Play free play
helps you get more used to it.

There is a book you can buy
that has the info on each task (BradyGames book around £12)
that is will help every time you every get stuck.

Thanks didn't know if I could go any closer than the viewpoint but I've done it now. Just did that mission where you got to pick between killing Playboy X or Dwayne, killed Playboy because Dwayne is sound!

Love this game. I'm on my fourth playthrough now and 've 100%ed it twice. And I've 100%ed TLAD and TBOGT. I need a life.

Got kinda bored of GTA V and along with the boredom of lockdown forced me to play this for the first time in like 5 years and I actually really enjoyed it considering it’s a 12 year old game. I’m aiming to complete it 100% along with TLAD and TBOGT so I’m going to post my updates as I play it in here (if anyone cares ), it was a game I loved when it was released and the story/ characters were really cool as well.

One thing that surprised me at first were the driving mechanics since it feels a lot slower but much more realistic compared to GTA V. Also its so much more easier to lose the cops as well which is something that really annoys me in V. The shooting feels more or less the same though so I haven’t really struggled with the game in that area.

The mission I’ve got up to so far is the one where you have to take Michelle on a date and I remember being shocked when you find out she’s an undercover cop but I’m more baffled as to how the **** I didn’t manage to work it out when I last played it? She’s so dodgy, always asking questions, has tags on everything in her apartment and she drives the same car that the cops use in the game . Took a little detour first on the way to bowling which was fun...

Hmmmmm I think I'd add some exceptions to that. Obviously it's inferior in graphics and performance to the remastered versions of 5. I also think the driving mechanic isn't as good (though I can accept that being a preference thing) and the shooting also slightly inferior.

The protagonist and characters in general are excellent in 4 though, the city feels better realised and "meatier", the music and chat radio is better (but still nothing has matched Vice City/San Andreas on that front) and I like the darker tone of the game.

If also probably add that while I like the overall story arc of 4 more than 5... 5 has more "stand out unforgettable moments" than 4.

They're both top tier games though tbf.

Forgot to add that in my first post but yh the soundtrack is much better I think compared to V (still like V’s too). I also prefer the story and the characters, I think once I start TLAD it’s going to be a shame realising what happens to Johnny in V. ):

Playing this game tho is bringing back soo many good memories. Didn’t realise how much I missed this game.

I never played the DLC's actually. If I can pick it up cheap for PC I might give it a whirl.

I definitely recommend it . I enjoyed the DLC’s, I liked how they tied into the original game. If you get Episodes from Liberty City’ you get both DLC’s on one disc and I’m sure it’s pretty cheap to buy now 2nd hand (I’m quite lucky owning The Complete Edition on PS3 so I have IV, TLAD & TBOGT on one disc).

It features new and additional soundtracks, weapons, vehicles etc and I’m sure each DLC is around 20 missions long so it’s worth playing though (:

GTA IV & Chinatown Wars are underrated Games imo.

I hope that you carry on enjoying the replay of GTA IV.

Driving around Liberty City in TBOGT with Boogie 2Nite playing might have been where the series peaked.

Oh I agree I loved that track, the TBOGT version of Vladivostok FM is one of my favourite radio stations in the whole series .

Yh for me (from what I remember when I last played) IV and TLAD had a darker feel to them and the storylines were a bit more depressing (idk if that’s the right word to describe them) but TBOGT brought a more lighter tone to the game which was great and the story I felt reflected that too.

So I’m up to Faustin’s missions now. I did all of Romans cab missions which was helpful since it maxed out his friendship level so now I can get cabs around the city for free. Money is so sparse at the beginning of this game, Niko’s been getting paid **** money considering the amount of work he’s doing . I need to try and max out Little Jacobs friendship next so I can get guns at a cheaper price.

Finished all of Vlad’s missions I always hated him. The dialogue in the mission ‘Uncle Vlad’ after Niko kills him and is talking to Roman about the war and why he’s in Liberty City is probably one of my favourite cutscenes in the game. I love the dialogue and it adds a bit of depth to Niko’s character and understanding his true intentions of why he’s come to Liberty City.

I’m hoping to breeze through the next lot of missions and move onto the Bohan strand of missions seeing as I’ve got used to the controls a bit better now.

I’ve finally unlocked Algonquin (I’m going to dread trying to find all the flying rats on this island though it’s gonna take ages ) and next I’m going to be starting Playboy X’s strand of missions. I always disliked him but Dwayne is great and is another one of my favourite characters from this game.

Faustins missions were a lot easier than I remember, even the final one where you have to kill him on top of Perestroika I didn’t really have much difficulty doing. All the missions so far (although they’ve been easy) have been great fun though and I love the dialogue and the funny little features in certain missions. There was one where I had to follow someone and then Roman decides to ring me asking if I wanted to play pool which spooked the person I was following and I had to run after him . I don’t remember this from when I last played (I must’ve just tried to rush the missions instead of taking my time).

The cutscenes in Little Jacobs and Faustins missions are great, I love how confused Niko looks when he’s trying to understand what Badman is saying to him when Jacob says he needs a favour . Faustins mission cutscenes are great particularly the one where Niko talks to his Faustins wife about the war and how it’s torn him apart and made him quite cold as a person, It’s such great writing. The part where Niko is betrayed by Dimitri is another great cutscene as well.

Really enjoying replaying through this game at the moment
