Politicians lied, lie and will always lie. I met some all the time as I am in this "area", sometimes you have to be smart and clever and you just tell a little bit lie. But some lie too much of course.

Lmao, people wouldn't have much to vote for if politicians were forced to tell the truth.

I see that a member of the UK Independence party took Gordon Brown to court last week over the government promising a referendum on the European Constitution in its election manifesto of 2005.This promise was obviously broken so this guy decided to take the case to court.
It lasted a very short time after a government lawyer said that "manifesto pledges are not subject to legitimate expectation". So there we have it, in a court of law it's proven that we might as well take the government promises with a pinch of salt. |

I have held an elected office before
All the children in the rest of the class unanimously voted me a class rep, although I can not remember a) putting my name forward or b) doing anything. I once applied for a student union post of Executive Finance and got in unopposed (The following year the post was actually contested) In 1994 I stood for election for Union President as an independent I do not recall having to peddle untruths, so not all politicians lie ![]() |
