Default Milla Jovovich set to be replaced in Resident Evil 4!

Resident Evil: Extinction spends a lot of its running time just setting up another movie, so it’s no surprise that there’s already talk of a Resident Evil 4. What is surprising is that it may not feature the franchise’s star, Milla Jovovich.

Ali Larter, one of the stars of TV’s Heroes and Jovovich’s co-star in Resident Evil: Extinction showed up at the film’s promotional press day in Las Vegas and answered questions about the possibility of another RE movie. According to Shock Til You Drop, she says she’s already heard “whispers” of a fourth film and, surprisingly, seems to think it may be a spin off from the Alice character arc we’re familiar with into a story focused on her Claire Redfield character.

Personally, I’d love to know what she’s smoking. Yes, the way Resident Evil 3 ends I suppose there’s room for a spin off involving Claire. She has second billing in RE 3, so I guess if you’re going to make a movie using some other character besides Alice it would have to be her. But she’s upstaged in nearly every scene by just about anyone and everyone who happens to be in front of the camera next to her.

It’s not that Larter’s bad, it’s just that the character has no personality. I very nearly omitted any mention of her entirely from my review of Extinction, Claire is such a non-factor. Yes she gets a lot of screen time, but most of it’s pretty meaningless. Oded Fehr gets the movie's best character moment and Milla Jovovich gets all the cool stunts. Ali Larter wears a hat, and that’s about all there is to Claire Redfield. Definitely not enough to deserve her own movie.

Resident Evil's the best and I'm only 13! It rocks. I watched the first one thirteen times to date, and the second one 4 times. God only knows how many times I'll watch the third one when I get it for my b'day! LOL

My sentiments exactly. Why would you continue making what has blatantly always been a faliure of a movie franchise that has never done justice to any of the games?

Some elements are bound to be dumbed down. The full story is too smart for your average popcorn muncher to digest. Either that or it will suffer from matrix sequel-itis.

I think it's much better than the game personally. It is more exciting. If they made the films just like the game it would be boring because we'd know how they end. These are so much better. And Milla Jovovich is a great addition the movie.

Resident Evil 3 is amazing, and is a great addition to the movie franchise. I will be buying the trilogy when it comes out on DVD in a box set.

I just hope and pray that Milla Jovovich will be returning for the 4th movie, Resident Evil Afterlife, is as good as the others.

Like the shawshank redepmtion? Or any other movie based on an existing event that still turned out to be great?

Id rather I knew the ending if it meant having two hours of Leon Kennedy trudging around Spanish villiages with a leather jacket , as opposed to the whole post apocalyptic [yawn] thing extinction was going for.

Apocalypse was a great movie. And Leon Kennedy is in the 4th Movie.

Alexander Witt (producer) made a huge sacrificde when he decided to put his own story to the Resident Evil movies. I for one (after the 1st) didn't think it would work. But he carried on creating the movies and each movie has become successful. Critics have described the third movie as 'Suprisingly good due the edge-of-your-seat battles.

Successful?

"...an utterly meaningless waste of time."

"This lackluster mix of science fiction and horror improves toward the end."

"...another exercise in making us feel the irritation associated with having to stand behind some game hack for our turn to play."

Fairly average at best reviews for Apocalypse their. As well as the fact that the movies rest along side the likes of Doom as icons of hatred for video gamers aorund the world.

You are aware that the vast majority of Resident Evil fans despise the movies?

Their okay if you want loud , dumb popcorn entertainment , but you wont see people looking much further than that.

Of course they are. They have been contracted to make more. Does it make the films better in any way? Of course not.

Rambo has crappy sequels. Mission impossible had crappy sequels. Die hard hard crappy sequels. The difference their is that the original movies kicked arse. But the real point is that having sequels does not nessacerily indicate quality , more it indicates a studios firm belief that people really are willing to fork out even more money to see crap.

They was only contracted to make three. But because the third was successful, They decided to make a 4th.

Yes. I know. Hence when I said 'they are contracted to make more'.

Again , does it make the movies good? Of course not. That descicion is one based on personal perception , and my personal perception is that they suck.

The third was successful, so it doesn't matter whether it's the same as the movie. The point is the third was successful, and so they should continue making more.

No the point is I still think they suck. The third one was better than the first two , I grant you , but thats like picking a George Foreman grill over having to eat off the floor.

Second thoughts , id rather eat off the floor.
