BBUS9 launched in the US last night, so here's a thread for us to discuss the launch show.

Anyway, back to the launch. Here is a summary of what happened during the show:

[spoil]Well, to begin with, Julie revealed that Sharon and Jacob had been in a 12-year relationship, which ended due to Jacob cheating on Sharon. However, that wasn’t the only secret relationship in the house: Julie also confirmed (though it’s been pretty well documented already) that Jen and Ryan are partners in real-life. They are going to pretend that they do not know each other inside the house.

So, after the houseguests had met each other, and the twist had been revealed, it was time for Julie to announce which houseguests were paired with who. Upon announcement of a pair, they had to go and find a bed to sleep in. The last two pairs announced were forced to live in sleeping bags. The pairs, as they were announced by Julie, are:

• Alex and Amanda
• James and Chelsia
• Natalie and Matt
• Jen and Parker (note that Jen didn’t get paired with boyfriend Ryan, hence denting their gameplan)
• Joshuah and Neil
• Jacob and Sharon (real-life exes)
• Ryan and Allison
• Sheila and Adam (Sheila took an instant dislike to her partner)

Was that all the drama in the first episode of the series? No siree. Julie then proceeded to reveal that the houseguests were about to take part in their first competition, entitled Falling For You. It involved one houseguest being suspended over a ‘honeymoon bed’, which their ’soulmate’ was lieing on. They were then lowered down for their partner to grab on to them, before being raised up again. Any pair that seperated would be eliminated from the competition, the last pair standing won.

But what did they win? Well, they won a pretty exciting prize, as the winning couple became the Power Couple. As the power couple, the winners are allowed to choose one set of soulmates to evict from the Big Brother house - a matter of hours after they entered. Nasty. So, this is how the competition played out:

• Sheila and Adam were out first.
• Neil and Joshuah soon followed.
• Alex and Amanda were third out.
• Sharon and Jacob were out fourth.

At this point, Julie revealed an extra-sub competition. On the bed below the pairs was a pillow with a heart sewn on. The pairs had to, using hands only, pick up the pillow. If the winners had a heart pillow, they would win $10,000 in addition to the eviction priviledge.

• Matt and Natalie decided not to go for the heart pillow. All other pairs did, and succeeded in grabbing the pillow.
• Allison and Ryan were fifth out.
• Chelsia and James were the next couple to be eliminated.
• Matt and Natalie then left seventh, after Parker promised them that he and Jen would not nominate them if they let them win, leaving Parker and Jen as the competition winners.[/spoil]
