Default BIG BROTHER 2004 GENDER OF WINNER BETTING ODDS

Big Brother V : Gender of Winner
Bookmaker Betting Exchange
Male 1/2

Female 7/4

Transexual 16/1

One of the markets available for Big Brother V this year is the gender of the winner. All bookies make a male winner the clear odds on favourite. A female winner is a best price 7/4, which could look very generous by Friday evening.

When reality television first hit the UK, male contestants were consistently outperforming their female counterparts whether it was in an eviction or to win outright. This was certainly the case for the first two UK Big Brother shows.

Kate Lawler managed to break the trend in Big Brother 3 by first winning an eviction battle with a male contestant and then going on to land the £70,000 first prize – which incidentally for the 2004 winner will be upped to £100,000.

Since the former Rise presenter won BB3, the UK has witnessed female contestants in reality shows win on a far more regular basis. Alex Park from Fame Academy, Michelle McManus from Pop Idol, Kerry McFadden from I’m a Celebrity are a few of the more well known.

Moving across the Atlantic Ocean and American Idol this year has been totally female dominated with the last four spots all being taken by the fairer sex.

All in all I wouldn’t put anyone off a small financial interest in the 7/4 for a female winner of Big Brother 2004.
