Default Wright, Gallacher presenting \'Gladiators\'

Quote:
Ian Wright and Kirstie Gallacher will present the revived version of Gladiators on Sky One.

The original UK series was an adaptation of American Gladiators - a show pitting amateur athletes against "gladiators" in a battle of strength, endurance and agility - and ran in several incarnations from 1992 to 2000. The show was presented by Ulrika Jonsson, John Fashnu and Jeremy Guscott.

Wright and Gallacher will present the contest as 32 contenders attempt to win the series champion crown and £50,000 prize. Original series referee John Anderson will officiate the challenges.

Footballer turned TV presenter Ian Wright said: "Gladiators is a great show and I am thrilled to be involved. Since people first heard it was coming back the response has been phenomenal and I am so excited that a new generation get to experience it."

Gallacher, known for presenting on The Games and Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway added: "I grew up with Gladiators so I couldn't be more excited to be involved in the new series. It promises to be great entertainment on a major scale and I can't wait to get started."

Gladiators will air on Sky One and Sky One HD this May.
