Default What are your hopes for X-Factor 2008?

What would you like to see happen in this year's series?

Here are some of my hopes:
1. No More Sob Stories. It is a singing contest not a charity.

2. No more annoying teenage boys singing swing (Ray) or jazz( Leon).

3. I wish Sharon Osbourne would cut out the amateur dramatics. Throwing water or storming off stage if your acts are in the bottom 2 is quite pathetic and inconsiderate towards your acts.

4. Not another 'Disco' themed night. The songs are not great for reality shows and tend to sound too karaoke. But I do think it is good to see the contestants sing fast, uptempo songs but it should be a more generic 'Floorfillers' night so they could sing a song from the 70's, 80's, 90's or 2000's and everyone could find a song to suit their voice.

5. I hope the girls are a higher standard than the last series and I would like to see a 'Rock Chick' similar to Carly and Amanda from American Idol.

I'd rather see it axed to be honest, but that would never happen when it pulls in 10 million + viewers and makes cr*p loads of money for ITV.

1. Sharon needs to stop acting the way she does and if she dosent .. replace her.. lol.

2. Have mixed or non mixed teenage groups and continue having teenagers too.

3. Deffo less sob storys - they get on my nerves lol

4. Different themes .. not just Abba (although i do kind of like that theme lol) I think they should start doing soul or r&b themes aswell.. seen as though they do rock.

5. More modern music, less of the old stuff

1. Bump audition age up to 18.
2. No more separate "Boys" and "Girls". Put it back to mixed.
3. A new category for "Bands", along with the separate "Groups".
4. NO MORE THEMES!
5. Axe the pre-performance VT clips. Take the emphasis off the sob-story and just on the singing.

1) Axe Dannii Minogue. I like her but she adds nothing to the panel and removes the spark of the original three.
2) Bring back the old 3 categories and the old format
3) VT's-yes. Sob stories- no. Do the VT's in the way of American Idol where we see them practicing, not splurting **** about digging up their dead mum
4) No restricted themes like "Disco week". Themes should be ones like "Songs from the Movies", "Songs from the Nineties" etc.
5) Axe Dermot

1)Allow for people to use instruments.
2)Stop taking up so much so time with sob stories
3)More modern music themes
4)Put the age limit upto 16
5)More variety of singers.
6)Have a top 24 instead of just the top 12.Only the public would get a say so on who makes the top 12.It would stop the audition process dragging on for too long.

Be at least 18 to audition.
No more themes.
Contestants sing with singers.
More than 1 guest singer.
Change the TV, build something bigger.
...and more talented people lol

1. For the show to actually produce some genuine talent. (Leona, Shayne...etc)
2. No themes, it's unfair to have weeks where some may leave because they can't sing that particular style. Every artist has their own style.
3. Bump the audition age back up to 16. Darent I mention Shiverzz.
4. Show the acts practising.
5. Bring back the show on ITV2 documenting their week of rehearsals, and what goes on in the house. I loved that show.

right here we go,good thread btw

1.axe sharon

2.stop the remaining judges being all 'me me me' if you get my meaning.its pathetic imo and boring and tiresome

3.ditch all the over used ballads eg,total eclipse of the heart,i will always love you,my heart will go on etc

4.no more themed nights what so ever ,tutors and contestant to pick the song they sing each week.

5.age limit 18,no more pathtic crying 12 year old boys whos voices havent even broke yet.

6.No more sob stories, arrrgh really anoys me and could stop me watching

7.viewers need to have more of a say in the audition process as someone suggest do the top 24 thing

8.people with real talent ,no more cheesy, kids, corny, novelty acts.Same difference anyone??Chico??

9.Last but not least

a worthy winner.

I agree with a lot of people saying that acts shouldn't sing overused songs. If I have to sit through yet another rendition of the overdone 'Lady Marmalade' during 'Movie week' again I'll scream! I wish acts/judges were more inventive and original in their song choices. In 'Big Band' week what is the point of singing a Sinatra song if you wouldn't release that sort of music? Acts should sing a modern song like Rhydian and Alisha did and add their own twist to it.

1. Audition age up to 18
2. Take away the battle between the judges. The show should be just about the contestants.
3. Less razzamatazz. ie no dancers, skaters, fire eaters etc. Its a singing competition.
4. Axe Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh. Both of them. They're rubbish mentors who have done just about as much as they can do for the show; its time to get rid.
5. Finally. Focus on talent not marketability.

If Sharon left, the show would lose something big time.

The show would not lose a thing is Sharon was fired. It'd be different, for sure, and probably better. Another judge might actually have something to say other than - I love you, you're fabulous, you look soooo handsome up there.

X Factor without publicity would be nothing. Except for the first live show, Sharon was actually quite good last year. She wasn't as much of a loose cannon as she was in series 2 and 3.
