Default Do you think it\'s fair when people say BB5 is overated?

I know, it's a forum and everyone has an opinion, but I think BB5 in no way overated.

It saved possibly saved Big Brother for another 4 years after BB4.

It brought a new dimention to the UK and even worldwide format. No more back to basics. Now the UK is all about enduring tasks, mesing with minds, secrets, twists and trickery. This mostly rooted from BB5. Even the house and eye now matches the series theme.

It was in my opinion one of only 4 series (Out of the 15) to have a perfect set of housemates (Being BB5,6, CBB4, and BB7) Oh look, it's my first perfect set of Housemates lol

It was fresh and new and actually fun to watch once again, and above all it exceded the shows potential far beyond anything from before or since. So, who agrees

IMO it's not fair but everyone is entitled to have an opinion. But it's well recognised that BB5 had the most controversial bunch of housemates ever in the history of BB.

No I have to say that I think its extremely over-rated and wouldn't have been as much of a success if it hadn't been for BB4. Series like BB6 and BB7 had something for everything (an aspect that BB5 lacked I think). It was the funniest series though! Bring back housemates like Emma and Shell! I think the decor was terrible (I know it was meant to be claustorphobic but just general color schemes I thought were hideous!) and the eye and titles were one of the worst!

I am watching it again now I am 3 weeks in and it is fantastic I forgot how great it was. The set of housemates were perfect and all the highlight shows were good and entertaining to watch. Its not fair when people say BB5 is overrated because it was fantastic series and has never been beaten, it deserves all the praise it gets.

BB5 is no way overrated. It usually tops the polls of fav series around here. It had great housemates, great twists and great tasks.

Great replies everyone One other thing I'd like to add. It was the first series anywhere to have a fake eviction (Emma, Michelle) It was the first UK (possibly worldwide) series to have a second house (The bedsit) and also probably the first series anywhere to let a housemate play Big Brother's role

It's obviously the best ever series, so I think it's a load of crap when people say it's over-rated to be fair.

It's only overated whenever people must exaggerate about how bad BB4 was, when it wasn't even that bad, and people who thoroughly enjoy BB5 might jump on the anti-BB4 bandwagon to look cool. BB4 was crap or lowkey, but not as bad as lots make out.

And BB5 is my favourite series btw.

The series was brilliant, but I think it is a tad overated. I'm only saying that because it wasn't that good nearer the end, but I suppose that happens on every series.

T'was a great series, but not the best for me. But I do agree that it raised the bar for future BBs, and has changed the format considerably.

I don't think it's overrated but yes, everyone's entitled to their opinion and I'll listen and try to understand that opinion as long as they can back it up intelligently.

BB5, 6 and 7 were my fav series and I think BB5 started that off - which is why it's my fav series. Great, interesting, mixed personality housemates with wonderful twists and tasks throughout.

It was just over the top brilliant, and as good as Big Brother will ever get. Those first few weeks, watching it as it happened night by night, epic television.

For me, it was HIGHLY overated. I came on this forum hearing everyone say "BB5 is the best, it's awesome". So i decided to watch it. I got just after fight night...and realised how it just wasn't for me. I just couldn't get into it at all. I really don't understand why people loved it so much. Half the housemates were freaks (i know that people say BB7 was full of freaks, but BB5 was the biggest freak fest i've ever seen), it didn't seem very stable for a series, the security of the show was very bad and it was just...URGH.

I can understand why people would like it, but i really prefer BB7. It's just my opinion though

Its highly over-rated due to the fight night. If that night never happened BB5 would be less rememerable by far.

People always question that, but for me it was brilliant. It was my 2nd fave BB just behind BB3, but them 2 series are literally on par with each other.

It had everything, every single HM was valuable to the show, even if you think of a HM that was less of an impact on the show, its hard to think, Beckie was in there for barely 2 weeks but was hated after the Judas Kiss, Shell and her argument with Victor during the wedding, the faint at Fight Night, passing her degree....ect..

Pick out any HM you cant really call them boring, each of them made a big impact on the show.

Was my favourite series. By far.

Anyone know where I can watch it again actually? The site I use only lets you watch an hour a day...and is quite bad quality.
