I left work at 17.40 tonight and I just arrived home at 21.40. It has taken me 4 hours to get home, on a journey that should take just over an hour. The tube stopped in the tunnel just before my stop at approx 18.15. There was a power failure and the driver had no idea what was going on. He got off the train twice to use the phone but to no avail. The last we heard from him he said that there "may be an emergency situation at the next station or the one before".
After not hearing from him for about half an hour, I was designated to pull the emergency alarm. Lol. Not everyone was pleased because of the high pitch noise it made that we couldn't turn off. A couple of us walked down to the drivers carriage to find out what was going on, only to find that the driver had got off the train and walked it to the next station, leaving us all behind, without even informing us! It was a good job nobody had really been taken ill! Eventually he returned, and after one and a half hours, we were ushered out of the back of the train carriage, and had to walk for 15 mins in near darkness on a narrow ledge, back to the previous station. We then had to get rail replacement buses to somewhere on the opposite side of the river, and then transfer onto the DLR to get back near home. When I got back, the bus did not turn up (they only run every 20 mins at this time of night. I vented my anger at the bus supervisor and he stood agog. Lol. I had to walk to get another bus, and then my bus stop was closed due to roadworks and the driver sailed past it. At this point I lost my rag real time, and he decided to stop and let me off before the next stop. Lol. The transport in London just gets worse! Rant over. ![]() |

I use it for work everyday and let me tell you it is crap. I am normally packed in like a sardine and it progressively gets worse. They had to evacuate 9 trains tonight.

Hundreds of commuters were stuck on the Tube for up to three hours when a power cut affected the entire Jubilee Line.
London Fire Brigade led 200 people to safety at North Greenwich station after their train got stuck in a tunnel. A total of nine trains were stuck. The trains stalled just after 1800 BST following a loss of power at the Jubilee line control centre in Neasden, north-west London. Another power cut in February on the same line left 450 passengers stranded. In the latest incident, the last of the passengers were taken off trains after 2100 BST. Six ambulances were on standby in case anyone needed treatment. A Transport for London (TfL) spokeswoman said: "Staff from across the Jubilee and Northern lines were called in to assist with the detrainment process. "Emergency services were called as is standard in these type of situations. However, no customers required medical assistance." Services from Finchley Road to Stanmore resumed at 2040 BST. An investigation has now been launched into the incident. Source |

Oh B.... that sounds like a utter nightmare. I cant imagine how stressful and annoying that would be.
The driver shouldnt have left the train under any circumstances. But you tell the tale so well ![]() Quote:

You jest but Red always writes to his MP and it gets results. We're going to write to ours about our insurance claim because its ridiculous. We had stuff stolen but we're the ones who feel like criminals because of all the fraud aspect. I wrote to mine when I lived back in Rutland and I was on Income support. I had results within 2 days after my MP found out that they expected a single mum to live off fresh air for a week after their muck up |

Oh Baz, sounds like the nightmare journey from hell. It would have totally blown my mind, I get a little bit panicky on the underground at the best of times, what you describe would have sent me into orbit.
I think you did very well to remain calm and by the sounds of it you took control of situations and looked for solutions, well done you for staying so level headed. I would have been the hysterical woman you would have had to slap. |

Everyone was quite calm actually, and struck up conversations with each other, and was having a laugh and a joke. Only a few people became agitated, but everyone made light of the situation and things were ok. There was nothing we could do but wait. Some people were not impressed with us sounding the alarm, but we stressed that to do something was better than doing nothing. It only sounds in the carriage you activate it in, so people were free to move to other carriages to get away from the noise.

The ironic thing though, was that if I had managed to catch the train before the one I got, I would have got home ok!
