Default BB chair set to do a Goody turn

BB chair set to do a Goody turn
AN online charity auction site is doing a Goody turn - by selling off the infamous chair from Celebrity Big Brother 5.

The gold high-backed seat was the scene of confessions, tears, and tantrums from contestants including Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and winner Shilpa Shetty.

The trio, with singer Jo O'Meara, were all caught up in an explosive race row scandal in the show early last year.
Overwhelmed
And the proceeds from the luxurious chair - already rumoured to have bids of five figures - will go to charity Get Connected, which offers support to young people.

Spokesman for charity auction website www.buyoncegivetwice.co.uk, Mike Gilmore, said: "I'm overwhelmed by the level of bids I've been hearing about.

"It's a piece of TV cultural heritage."

Get Connected Helpline Manager Dan Whitbread added: "The money raised will particularly help us expand our webchat service, which enables young people to have a confidential conversation with a Helpline Worker via instant messaging.

"If people bid generously for the Big Brother chair we could help thousands more young people via webchat."

The website officially launches on April 17 and is the brainchild of Gloucester housewives Mia Woodford and Emma Leschallas who have already raised hundreds of thousands in cash for charity.

The Celebrity Big Brother chair - donated by The Carphone Warehouse - is not the only celeb item up for grabs.

Also set for auction is a bottle of House of Commons whisky signed by Gordon Brown's first Cabinet, with a starting bid of £750.

The special whisky bottle was given to young cancer patient Liam Fairhurst by the PM to help raise cash for kids' cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

Thirteen-year-old Liam has already raised £146,000 for the charity after he was diagnosed with cancer in his leg in 2005.

Punters will also be able to bid for a Harley Davidson with a diamond encrusted badge signed by model Caprice, a Real Madrid shirt signed by Ronaldo and even Supernanny Jo Frost's furry green slippers.

The hoard also includes Gary Lineker's script from the 2006 World Cup final and even a 20-minute private performance from opera star Sarah Connolly.
