GREAT news for comedy fans – gifted funnywoman Caroline Aherne is working on a new Royle Family script.
Pals of the Mancunian star reckon a Christmas special could be on the cards. The last Royle Family episode, The Queen Of Sheba in October 2006, had millions glued to their sets as Nana passed away. It was billed as the final instalment. But that could well be a case of “Last episode? My arse!” as layabout Jim Royle might say. A friend of the star told TV Biz: “Caroline’s creative juices are flowing and her scripts will be packed full of humour. “Exactly what the storylines will be haven’t been revealed, but they are already being eagerly anticipated by some top BBC executives.” Pals reckon Caroline’s scripts will be ready by the autumn after her co-writer Craig Cash’s new series Sunshine is in the can. TV Biz has revealed how Caroline, 44, who has battled booze addiction, has agreed to take a role as a barmaid in Sunshine. The source added: “A lot of us thought Caroline would never do another one after Queen Of Sheba. But after a lengthy break, Jim Royle and the clan look set to make a comeback and it will make sensational viewing.” The source added it could be made in time for Christmas. “Shows like the Royle Family always hit the target with families in the festive season.” The Sun |
