Both great shows imo. From the Josh Shwartz. For me it has to be The O.C. great characters and great story lines. I still like Gossip Girl...but the characters just seem so plastic and shallow. I like GG but it just doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Gossip Girl! I 've watched ahead (on YouTube) and Blair and Serena and Chuck all get much deeper. I love the whole feel of it that The OC had until S4.

The O.C, I do love Gossip girl though. To me they are quite different, The O.C was a dramedy while Gossip girl is more like cruel intentions with some comic touches. Both are good but I love O.C more.

Wow, do you even have to ask? THE OC!!! Gossip Girl is allright and good entertainment, but The OC is just one in a million. What I love about The OC, is that when you scratch beneath the surface..it's so much more than just another teen drama. It has so much heart, and the characters have substance. The characters on Gossip Girl are very one dimensional, and the whole show is quite shallow. You could never beat the amazing montages and music that The OC has either. And Marissa is better and a way more complex character than anyone from Gossip Girl.

I love GG though. I've started watching the episodes online and it is getting better I have to say, plus I'm totally in love with Chuck/Blair and Serena/Dan is so cute. The ships have better chemistry than the ships in the OC, but still, that programme was just perfect.

But I find alot of things in GG similar to the oc, like Blair and Serena are alot like Summer and Marissa. Vanessa is Dan's old friend just like Theresa was Ryan's (and they are both latin). They are all rich and spoilt with troubled lives. Lily looks alot like Kirsten. Ok maybe a few, but I still feel they are stealing a few things from the show.

Take that back! I mean I watch GG but it's really plastic. The only thign about the characters are their names there is nothing else to them. It seems really innocen aswell, while they try and make the trailers really raunchy. In the next season they need to tackle more serious issues to let it get a little deeper, rather than the main event of an episode being "S isn't going to attend B's big sleep over" ! Shock horror!

I agree. Gossip Girl is good, but it's a bit shallow and most of the storylines in Season 1 were Serena and Blair bitching at each other. I was hardly on a knife edge. I think it will get better in Season 2 though. You can't really compare it to The OC, Season 1 is perfect.

There will never ever be a season of any t.v show as good as the O.C. season 1. The best episdodes in season1 are the countdown and the goodbye girl

I'm not going to take it back this is a forum and that is my opinion. Sorry if it offends you or comes of blunt. The whole point to Gossip Girl is that it is shallow and bitchy. It is Cruel Intentions for the small screen. The OC was nothing I had not seen before and even though I enjoyed it till the end even hard core fans admitted it got worse each season.
