Default Will the hype last?

In recent years big brother has started with big hype surrounding the eye release, adverts, house pics but they have not delivered do you think big brother 9 will follow this tradition?

It's gone a bit flat since the first TV flash.

We need the Press pack quickly.

I agree - zero hype so far this year.

The ad campaign has been the same as every year and they are still relying on the idea that people will tune into Big Brother just because it's Big Brother - but after last year that is simply not the case - and they need to be telling people exactly why they should tune in and what will be different this year.

But so far, nothing.

Also, the penultimate Sunday before the launch and their appears to be NOTHING in any of the Sunday papers about the show, not even the Daily Star.

They really need to put new adverts out even if its just tweaking the campaign they've used for years. Something like "10 days until its all change" could be in the countdown adverts or "Big Brother is changing, its back, June 5th" at the end of the standard Channel 4 advert. Just something really basic like that could have a big impact. I noticed an advert on The Hits this morning. I know its a Channel 4 channel but hopefully its a sign to come that they will start cross promoting which they need to do. Billboards would also be a good move. Whilst on the subject of advertising, if they had any sense they would capitalise on next weeks Britains Got Talent. Obviously regulations state they can't say when its starting but a loophole could be airing the standard promo then in the next ad break airing a countdown ad, then in the next one a house ad etc.

I believe that people will tune into it just because it is Big Brother but I doubt very much that they will break the 6m barrier on launch night but it could come quite near but if they currently go the way they are with advertising and don't up their game fast then they can't expect big figures. Big Brother starts in just over a week and nowhere near enough has been done.

I agree Tom that "10 days until its all change" or something like that would work so well and would add a lot of hype and interest to the show.

Something needs to be done quickly because it looks like there is no real interest from the press or the public. Advertising needs to be steeped up this week, billboards, new TV adverts which we haven't seen before, radio adverts, really advertise the show. Even on this forum there doesn't seem to be any excitement about BB9.

It doesn't look good for BB9.

well i do feel the BB5 and 6 delivered on the hype surrounding it. but i do feel that alot of mistakes that was done in BB4 have been recreated in recent years (along with some new ones) its hard to tell if BB9 is going to live up to the hype but what we must remember is that we the fans hyped this year up, this could result in the show not living up to some peoples expectations (it would probably be for the best if we forget about previous years when watching this year and see it as a brand new show rather than number 9 in a series)

There has been zero hype for BB9, the press lost interest after BB8 and have been calling for it to be axed ever since. The sunday tabloids aren't hyping the show, and really the reality shows getting the most attention this summer is BGT and The Apprentice.

That being said the adverts this year have been great so far but they really need to step-up with the advertising campaign.

The media don't care about the hype, because the last BB's have been so bad and viewing figures are getting worse. Also they are worried about promoting the series only for something like another race row to erupt and them look bad.

Anyway who care about the hype? Just wait then watch when it starts!

Be patient, not long to go!

I think there is more hype about it this year than last year. Loads of people I know who aren't necessarily BB Fans have noticed the new ads/ the new eye etc.

There is defo more advertising needed. Also the fact that Launch Night has been delayed to avoid competition shows that C4 are doing things to pull in the viewers.

There is still just under 2 weeks to go guys.... BB9's advert campaign started three weeks before launch. What other show has such a level of advertising? I mean there is still 11 days of intense advertising to go.... don't get so gloomy!!

Its all down to the housemates. If the housemates are a good bunch then its all worth it. But if they're not good *cough BB8 cough*, then the whole series will be bad.

There is no hype! The only hype is if you watch E4 or channel 4, these days you have 100's of channels, not including downloaded content and DVD's to watch.

So the hype is very little, when compared to posting adverts in newspapers, billboards, magazines, cinemas, internet sites, etc...... They have not used this to its full potential. Also people are scared for them to advertise because of getting related to bad publicity if it all goes wrong.

I think it will go wrong as it is going down hill , series after series.
