Default My X-Factor Audition.

A bit late but I was knackered Monday and busy yesterday.

On Monday, I went to the O2 Arena for my X-Factor Audition. It was raining really heavy and I was soaked. I went through the zigzag gates things, and went to the next section. It was freezing and music was playing and then this bloke was talking down the mic about the arrangements and stuff. Then Dermot spoke to the crowd and after doing a few of those links where everyone chants 'London's got the X-Factor' the bloke promised we'd be inside in half an hour. We continued round the next section of zigzag gates and people started pushing in? like.. they were unhooking the gates and cutting through the lines? and it got really bad at one point that I was carried with the crowd through the gates? Me, and all the people around me ended up going from near the beginning of the line, to towards the back. Crowd control wouldn't do anything! They were crap.

After two and a half hours of shivering and waiting in heavy rain, we got inside. We got our tickets, I got an audition number and we went into the Arena. Drenched. Sat down in allocated seat, that annoying bloke spoke to everyone, talked about the arrangements again, Dermot came out, talked to us, did more links then he came into the crowd? I didn't get to meet him but I shouted his name and he waved. He was so funny though. The Arena was like. full up? and auditions started from the middle, up to the back, went down the right side of the Arena, back round to the left side [where we were] and then did the back?

Basically. There are three rounds of Producer auditions. If you pass this audition, you get a gold ticket and go to the next round whenever that is. After the third round of Producers, you meet Simon, Sharon, Dannii and Louis. Auditions took place in about 20 small booths down on the stage/floor area, each one had a producer behind it.

So I sat there watching people audition and most of the REALLY good people didn't get through? Example; there was this young girl [about.. 17?] and she had red highlights, and she sang I Have Nothing? She hit the money note and everything, everyone in the Arena started cheering for her? Then she came out and shook her head, bowed to the crowd and walked off and everyone started booing the Producer for not putting her through? THEN there was this opera guy who sang Nessun Dorma and he didn't get through, but this other opera guy who had a much weaker voice did? The crowd were good though, booing and cheering, but the people running it were SO slow. Took three hours to clear the middle section, until auditions sped up.

Finally, at 7:15 in the evening, my row was ready to audition, we were taken to our booth and we waited for our turn. The boy in front of me was really good and came out really upset because he didn't get through. Then I went round and I was like "Hiiii" and the Producer just smiled, said hi and asked me what my name was. I told him, he asked me what I was gonna sing, I told him and he was like 'okay, in your own time'. I sung, and when I finished there was this LONG pause? He was like.. considering it? The pause was actually about 10-15 secs but it felt so long. In the end he finally said "You have a good voice" so I smiled and in my head I was thinking 'OMG' [in a typical Conzors way =P] but then he was like 'however you lack experience... so I'm afraid it's a no' and I thanked him for his time and left.

I'm happy I went, and it's good to see that I almost kinda got through. I'm taking the 'lack of experience' as constructive criticism, afterall I hadn't sung in a show for over a year or so, and I'll just make sure I get to sing a lot next year during BTec. However, I enjoyed the audition experience but the X-Factor isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'll still watch it and stuff, but I don't think I'll reaudition [possibly after I finish college]. I think I'll make a music myspace during the Summer, and work my own way through, seeing as it seems more worthwhile. This was the second big audition I've been to this year [after Skins] and I'm gonna keep auditioning for things since the Performing Arts is what I want to persue in the future and I'm going to continue working at it, especially at College. The next thing I aim to audition for is one of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical Revivals [JohnBarrowman<3 &&depending on whether they're looking for males] but I've learnt to take all opportunities I can, continue to develop and hope for the best.

Sorry for the long post :P
Feel free to ask any questions :]

Aww sounds like you had a fun/tense time LOL.

I guess not getting through motivates you to do better next time?
Good luck if you audition again

Oh well, Those producers know nothing from the sounds of things. Good luck though for next time if you audition again.

Well done for giving it ago, Darren. Shame you didnt get through. I suppose it all depends on which producer you get to.

I was speaking to somebody last year who auditioned for series 2. She said there was a girl group who auditioned and they pretended to be really bad and really over-the-top hoping the producers would put them through to the judges as a "bad act", and they did. They got through to see Simon, Sharon & Louis and then they really auditioned and stop pretending to be bad - and they got 3 yes'. She said that had the group had sang normally they first time they probs would have got a no.

Such a shame you didn't get through , at least you did it and gained experience from it.

What I don't understand is, how come you see all these really bad acts in-front of the judges?

You should have been really crap then they would have put you through...they only put the funny people and amazing people through to the judges cus thats what makes good tv. You have to be really bad in the first round then actually sing well in front of the judges

It makes good t.v. They put the baad people through so thats why the genuinely belive they have a good voice infront of the judges. It annoys me when a judge goes "Who told you, you had a good voice?" Because it's there production team that do. Its really a sham.

Thanks for the comments everyone.<3

I may audition again, I have a year or so to decide anyway.
That's a good idea Arneldo! May have to do that next year! lol!
Xander, I guess it's just for the entertainment? I saw this guy and he was doing like, this really typical 'dad at a wedding dancing' with all the turns and everything, his voice was awful and he got through o.0

&LMAO Conzors.
Of course you don't :P ;D

They look for really obscure things in people for these sorts of things, I mean like you said, there are some really fantastic people who don't get through. Definitely go with the MySpace music page, you're likely to get more exposure on there, and who knows where it could lead!
