Jade Goody has vowed to step up security at her Essex home after losing £56,000 worth of jewellery in a robbery.

The controversial reality star discovered that she had been burgled when she returned to her £750,000 house following a visit to her mother. It was the third time that Goody had been targeted by thieves.

Jade's spokesman said: "She is definitely going to increase her security but there is no question of her moving away because she loves the area."

Police confirmed that the raiders gained access to Goody's home through an "insecure window".

An Essex Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to reports of a burglary in Pick Hill, Waltham Abbey, which is believed to have occurred between 6.30pm on May 28 and 12.30am on Thursday 29.

"The total value of items thought to have been stolen is thought to be a five-figure sum. Burglars are believed to have gained access by an insecure window. Jewellery, rings and watches were among items stolen."
