Nope. Not much advertising, no billboards, no huge campaign. C4 should have done it.

Even the adverts aren't that informative, it's not publicized enough.

Well seeing as there is about 63 million people in the UK and about Im guessing 7-10 million knowing its starting, I dont think so

Well it depends what age they are, im sure that most 14-24 year olds know as they are the most likely to watch Hollyoaks(where BB has been advertised a lot) or any Channel 4 shows.

I don't think it's been advertised enough to be honest.Even my mum who always watches didn't know when it started until I told her the other day.

the thing is that C4 arnt trying to get NEW viewers, they are despiratley trying to keep ahold of the ones theyve already got, which in my opinion is NOT the way forward, they need to start interesting more people to the show !

They need to explain BB in an Ad of some kind.. the eye flashes mean nothing to regular viewers and new viewers need to get an idea of what its about.. i think they should have an Ad showing best bits overs the years explaining... locked in a house for 13 weeks... tasks and evictions and one winner

No. It hasn't been advertised enough. Longer adverts should have started with 2 weeks to go.

Davina has been on Paul O Grady and Chris Moyles talks about Big Brother every morning but apart from that no other show has done anything about BB9. Davina should be on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, The Graham Norton Show, GMTV, Loose Women and This Morning.

More advertising and more appearances were needed, I just hope enough people know about launch.

I think a mix. Last years was a complete failure but it was advertised everywhere and they looked a bit foolish. Since Sunday Big Brother has been mentioned in the written media every day and will probably continue to do so. They seem to have upped the advertising this week with one of the appropriate adverts in each ad break. I think they've done it a little more subtly this time so they don't look as foolish but come Thursday morning it will be everywhere. I expect it to be mentioned in GMTV's Pick of the Day on Thursday too. Davina will be on Chris Moyles on Thursday and he mentioned Big Brother this morning.

Those who aren't aware will see it when either flicking through or looking at the TV guide. Many programmes get decent figures based on their name.

TV adverts haven't been enough this year I don't think. We needed promotions in newspapers, and billboards.

As Kraig said, I think Channel 4 are trying to hold onto the already avid viewers, and not entise new ones into the series. However, Paul O' Grady does get a good few viewers, and I'm sure that was when many people realised it was starting. Also, GMTV are doing something about past housemates, so obviously they are publicising the launch, and I'm sure Richard on Pick of the Day will talk about it.

I do think next year they should extend promotion to radio, newspapers once again and billboards.

However, there wasn't that much press last year, and the launch got a good amount of viewers. I'm sure Thursdays launch won't be as bad as BB Australia's Launch show which didn't get many viewers at all.

Last years launch was up against the Soap Awards and The Apprentice. Thursday is a grave yard as far as TV is concerned. 5.8m viewers tuned in to the Big Brother 8 final clearly showing some people still have interest in Big Brother despite figures being down overall. I think we can expect at least 5.5m for launch with the publicity it has got and the lack of competition. If it did average that it would be quite poor but if Mondays highlights could manage to drop less than 4m then I think it will be alright. I won't count Friday, Saturday and Sunday because its the weekend and not many people watch then anyway.

A Sunday launch could have been a good idea.

If your source for the GMTV thingy is the video of housemates arriving at the GMTV studios, thats was actully for the Friday Night Project, they have their studios in the same building!

There is other subliminal promotion people don't realise. It doesn't have to be an official advert for it to be promotion, for example the Heat Magazine advert mentions the ultimate guide to BB9 and Zoo Magazine radio advert mentions it.

Its been covered in media quite a lot this week then don't forget those who don't know will be flicking through and most people start at BBC1 and work their way up. Unless they catch something on BBC1-ITV1 (unlikely) then I doubt it will be a problem.

As I say, 6.2m watched last years launch which had heavy competition. There is no competition this year.

That's because BB8 was following one of the most successful series in recent years, with high ratings and media interest.

BB9 has the unfortunate task of fixing the wrongs that BB8 has made. They have to getthe media back on their side, and to re-convince the average viewer that BB is not past its sell by date. However due to lack of competition and hype of a more harsher BB, I think ratings should be solid. If launch night doesn't deliver though, you might aswell right BB9 off, becuase the media will turn and ratings will drop.

I'm actually pretty excited to see if they can pull it off, BB8's launch wasn't exciting because they didn't try, but this year that will be different.
