Default Euro 2004 Football task

Big Brother Housemates Face Euro 2004 Task

The Big Brother housemates will be set football-themed weekly task tomorrow, Sunday 13 June: Each housemate will be asked to adopt a competing country’s team, become their number one fan and create their own costume, Euro 2004 mascot and be on stand-by to perform their own victory dance on behalf of their adopted country at Big Brother’s request.

The task will begin tomorrow when a housemate will be called into the diary room to receive the instructions and rules. The task will finish on Wednesday.

If housemates complete the task successfully they will be rewarded with a Big Brother privilege pass. This pass will be redeemable against a choice of rewards, including catching some of the England Vs Switzerland match with beer and pies, OR exercise machines for the week.

Details of the task are as follows:

OPENING CEREMONY (Sunday)
The housemates will be provided with materials to make a mascot outfit for their chosen country’s team. On Sunday night the housemates will stage their own opening ceremony in the Big Brother garden. Each housemate, dressed as their team’s mascot, will burst from the house to the sound of a fanfare and make their debut performance of their mascot’s victory dance in the garden.

MASCOT VICTORY DANCING (Monday)
On Monday morning, housemates will receive instructions for the next stage of the task - to perform a Mascot Victory Dance. At regular intervals, commentary from fictitious football matches between two of the housemates’ adopted teams will be played into the house, for example Greece V Spain.

The housemates of those two adopted countries have just 3 minutes to get up from wherever they are, don their mascot outfits, run to the garden and perform the victory dance in the ‘Big Brother Football Stadium’ (set up in the garden). Both mascots must be there within 3 minutes, a goal will be scored at the end of the 3 minutes and the mascot of that country will then perform their victory dance in the face of the other housemate. The victory dance must be performed within the time limit or they fail.

Learning The Football Chant (Tuesday)
As well as continuing the mascot victory dances, the housemates will also be given a football chant to learn in 3 different languages.

The Football Chant (Wednesday)
Whenever the housemates hear the national anthem of a country they have just 45 seconds to run to the ‘Big Brother Football Stadium’ in the garden, put on football scarves and hats within 45 seconds and perform the chant in the language of that country.

Rules of the Task

· Countries to choose from: England, France, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Holland.

· The storeroom is stacked with props for each housemate to build their country’s mascot. Props will include a mascot head, baggy football shorts, long football socks, plain t-shirt, national flag and a sash.

· They will be given sewing kits, beads, felt, ribbons and all manner of materials to decorate their outfits.

· If the housemates arrive late or perform the chants or dances incorrectly three or more times then they will fail the task.

This sounds like a really good task! I think whoever was on the team for BB4 must have been kept on.

Looking forward to seeing the victory dances already!

I'm one of those moaning women then
I don't mind watching the actual football its all the talking about it thats the problem. If we didn't have to have the half hour before the match predicting what will happen, then the bit in the middle talking about what has happened and what will happen next, then the bit at the end it wouldn't be so bad

although this task sounds quite good fun and if it clashes with the real football tonight it will be a blessing

I'm sure we all drive our non bbfan friends mad about BB all the time as well. You can't be a fan of something and not talk about it.

I know what you are saying Lee - the thing that bothers me is the closet footie fans who are all sporting england flags and shirts and talk abotu it as if their world depends upon it when they possibly never go to a footie match

Only if you support football. I hate football, always have, always will. I certainly won't be celebrating if we win anything. Is that a lack of national pride, or whatever? No, actually, it's just that I don't like football, thus I'm not going to feign a pathetic interest in something just because 'we' are playing.

Sorry didn't mean to start a debate on the right and wrongs of football
I don't enjoy it thats my opinion and I know there are lots of people who love it and I listen to them talk about it just as they listen to me go on about bb.The point that I was trying to make was that Big Brother doesn't get a look in amongst the football footage so why does the football interfere with Big Brother
never mind I'm sure it will be a good task regardless of your views on football
