Default Refund? \'Fraid not! (UPDATE: Refund now offered)

From Channel 4 BB Voting T&C's:
Quote:
Under no circumstances will there be a refund for any vote cast (including where a housemate has already left the house) or for any misdialled calls. Where a housemate leaves the house other than in accordance with the vote Channel 4 will announce that fact as soon as reasonably practicable on the Channel 4 website.
Full Voting Terms Here

That is annoying! I would like my money back. I don't actually think this is fair, but I suppose we accept this when we vote (casting a vote means that you automatically agree to the T&C's).

UPDATE: Refund offered at channel4.com/bigbrother (they made it as hard as possible)

Well doesn't most of it go to charity?! So all least it's going to a good case and not a total waste of money.

That is disgraceful. They ought to refund the money, or at the very least they ought to evict Mario anyway.

I don't think they donate money to charity any more. That was the case for CBB2007 and BB7 and possibly BB8, but i have seen nothing about charity this year. But they may choose to donate this weeks votes to charity. They will get slammed if they keep it.

Sorry, I am totally, wrong. They votes are split between 3 charities - Scope, PAPYRUS, and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

The line you quote only refers to misdialled calls, not cases in which the public vote is cancelled. It has been present in the voting Terms and Conditions since at least 2006. Since then I can remember at least two occasions on which Channel 4 have offered refunds for cancelled phone votes (during CBB5 when the lines were reset during to them misadvertising it as a vote to save, and during BB8 when Emily was ejected).

If you need proof, click here to look at the voting terms for BB7 then look at point 7

I am confident that Channel 4 will offer a refund.

For the record, Channel 4 donate 10p from each call to charity. The rest goes to telephone administration costs - C4 no longer make profit from phone votes.

If a refund is offered, it is likely that they will offer a refund to a certain date, then all unclaimed monies after that will be given to charity.

Unless you voted repeatedly it shouldn't be that big of a deal... and anyway its for charity.. and Davina did mention it before, probably the first eviction.

I think the prospect of a refund is highly unlikely, they will probably donate all the votes to the 3 charities.

It's not the 25p, it's the principle.

They ought to do something good with the money they have taken in so far this week. As others have mentioned, they could donate it all to charity. It's a goodwill thing more than anything else.

I didn't vote, so it's not a personal thing for me, but I do believe that the decent thing to do would be to offer the voters a refund, whether they claimed it or not.

If it goes to charity, whats the problem?

People really would rather have their 25p back, than it go to a charity?

My apologies, that's me getting mixed up.

I reiterate though, I think there will be a refund offered - if anything to make themselves look better incase Ofcom runs an investigation, what with all the recent premium rate phoneline scandals.

Yeah, just been looking through last years stuff about Emily's removal, and they did offer a refund, so it could happen...

But again, as long as it is donated to charity, if no refund is offered, then I don't have a problem with no refund...

Like P.O said, its the princible, BB got people to ring up to evict, in full confidence that they wont be ripped off

Day after

"Soz we pulling lines
k
thnx"

Its like setting up a stall with dodgy items one day, the next day the stall has gone and you cant return yer item

Exactly. If I had voted I wouldn't want my 25p back, but I would like to be bloody well offered.

It's not confirmed. Yes, 10p from every 35p call goes to charity, but that happens with every phone vote, not just ones that are cancelled.

At the end of the day, people pay to call and evict, and this week's eviction was cancelled. Naturally people will want their money back.

Channel 4 will probably offer a refund, then give any unclaimed monies after a certain date to charity.

Prinicpals are important, plus on 25% or something goes to Charity, the whole lot should IMO

Yeah, I don't have time to claim 25p back of a TV channel, to be honest, but they should offer it and say unclaimed money will be donated to charity. We don't give enough charity as a country anyway.

It is most certainly the principle. As Alex was only removed just over 3 hours ago, I doubt they have had time to set up a refund system, but I'm sure there will be one announced during tomorrow.

If you voted to evict Alex she's gone anyway, so you've got what you voted for.

If you voted to evict Mario he wouldn't have been evicted against Alex anyway, so axing the vote doesn't affect you.

These things happen - it's stated in their T&Cs no refund will be given, so they should stick to that. However, that line was also in their T&Cs last year and they did offer refunds both when Emily was up for eviction and in Celeb BB when there was a voting problem then.
