Default Ban Binge Brother

Quote:
BAN BINGE BROTHER!
Big Brother bosses faced angry calls for the show to be axed last night after a shocking booze binge ended in a housemate being thrown out.

Dennis McHugh got his marching orders on Friday lunchtime for spitting in Mohamed Mohamed's face 12 hours earlier.

Anti-booze and bullying campaigners queued up to blast the show after the latest scandal - which came after housemates had been given more than 40 CANS of strong cider.

It was was supposed to last them a week but they were allowed a massive drinking session.

They had eaten very little that day. Some just had cereal.

Thursday's squalid scenes ended with a row between Dennis and Mohamed, both 23.

Carol Saldinack, who got her boozing thug sons sent to prison for blinding an innocent dad, led calls for the controversial Channel 4 show to be taken off.

She said: "The programme should be stopped.

"The Gove rnment is campaigning to tackle binge drinking and yob violence and yet all people have to do is turn on their TV screens and watch Big Brother to see it going on.

"It's horrible what Dennis did with the spitting. All you get is violence, aggression, spitting, verbal abuse, drinking and last year racist remarks."

Carol, from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, added: "We need to get this off our screens - for good."

A fan who saw the disgraceful scenes said: "As soon as the store cupboard opened they all started drinking straight away.

Big Brother should have given it out in limited amounts."

By 10pm several of the 15 housemates, including Rebecca, were already drunk.

Liz Carnell, director of charity Bullying UK, said: "These wannabe nobodies should get out of that house and go back to wherever they came from.

"Every year the contestants are more outrageous, get filled up with booze and do even more extreme and disgusting things. Spitting in someone's face is the lowest of the low.

"Drinking goes hand in hand with bad behaviour but the programme makers love it."

Tv watchdog Ofcom had already been inundated with complaints over the current series, in which housemate Alexandra De-Gale was expelled last week for intimidating behaviour.

The fan added: "I think alcohol should be banned in the house - or they should have a strict amount per person to stop incidents like the other night. Clearly some housemates can't control their emotions while drunk. They become aggressive and overreact to the slightest little thing while under the influence.

"I know they're not children but if they act like kids they should be treated like them."

Liberal Democrat heath spokesman Norman Lamb last night branded Big Brother bosses irresponsible.

He said: "Obviously they made the right decision in removing Dennis from the house. But they can't take the moral high ground. They set up the situation themselves. They are responsible for the behaviour descending to that level."

Big Brother last night defended the provision of alcohol - saying it was up to the housemates to be sensible.

A spokesman said: "Housemates are given access to alcohol should they choose to buy it from their weekly budget.

"They have to ration it between themselves. The housemates are all adults and therefore ultimately responsible for the amount they drink."

Just a fortnight ago the Government launched a £4million anti-binge drinking advertising campaign. Ads have even been shown during Big Brother.

Mr Lamb warned: "Big Brother is glorifying excessive alcohol consumption by showing it on television."

The show has been marked by a string of seedy incidents.

During BB5 in 2004 a fight broke out between Victor Ebuwa and Emma Greenwood.

In January last year there were calls for the show to be axed after the race row between Shilpa Shetty and Jade Goody.

And last summer there was controversy when pretty blonde Emily Parr was removed for using a racially offensive word to a black housemate.

Big Brother 6 contestant Kinga Karolczak, who caused controversy with her drunken antics involving a wine bottle, said: "They ply you with booze to make something happen.

"I think Big Brother has had it's time. This year it's spitting, what will it be next year, a punch?"

If they didn't give housemates Alchocol they would have a boring show I must admit the alchocol consumption that night it got out of order was far to much for them Rebecca was so drunk she jumped in the pool with her clothes on .Theirs going to come a time when one housemate will over do it and will have to be taken to hospital.

They should not be permitted

that is Dumb.

And Big Brother can control that if they wish.

It is no good them (Night staff)
thinking (Mr. Heath and Safety) Mario is there
to help out,
he goes to bed early.

Dennis had a Nasty Side
we all viewed that.

The Liberal Democrats should really keep out of it, they are just humping on the anti-big brother band wagon.

All the contestants are over 18 and by law allowed to drink. The Government should be there to advise us what to do and not what do with our bodies, they shouldn't be telling us what do with what is in effect a legal drug they make a lot of money out of. If people drink too much and step out of line there are laws to deal with it, just as there are rules in Big Brother house. Dennis paid the ultimate price for his behavior and was ejected from the house.

This country is turning into a nanny state. Come the next election we should tell all those that want to control our life to the extent of the current Government were to get off!

You cant blame Big Brother, the housemates chose to drink that amount and they are all over the legal age, so BB are not doing anything wrong.

Another example of Sunday People and their genius titles there.

To ban BB for those reasons is just burying their heads in Sand. It's good that BB shows that those with inappropriate behaviour get punished by BB.

BB is a reality TV show - in reality people aren't given a watchdog of how much they should eat before drinking, and how much they should drink. By simply rationing out the alcohol it's very unrealistic which defeats the object of BB.

Understandable reaction from people who never really like the show as they don't watch it then feel left out when it becomes a huge hit.
A case similar to football too, often complained about by those who have no idea of whats going on.
This makes me dissapointed on the people WHO do watch the show and yet still defend the unnaceptable behaviour of spitting, this is what YOU create, the people who do watch the show need to speak out loudest when we view something wrong.
It won't stop the complaints from those who don't watch but it will end the myth that BB and its fans appear to condone unruly behavior which simply isnt generally true.
These bad HM's let US down more than anybody.
