Default Help :(

This isn't so much to do with TiBB - but I've no idea what to do about it and it's REALLY stressing me out.

When using programs such as Firefox, iTunes, MSN...which have windows open with scrollbars on the right-hand side, the page keeps jerking up and down randomly even though I'm not using the scroll-thing on my mouse.

I've checked for viruses and there's nothing there...but I dunno what to do

I had a similar problem, I think its because sometimes the mous/touch pad becomes sensitve?
I don't have a clue really, it suddenly stopped. Sorry for not being much help. What about reinstalling them?

How long has it been happening and have you installed something lately and it could be that?

Try restoring your computer to about a month ago.

It's stopped, seemingly. I changed the mouse settings so that I can't auto-scroll and use the smooth-scroll instead.

Thanks though for the help!

This is why I installed a mouse on my laptop instead of using the touch pad.

LOL Shaun, give me a sec... I remember a similar thread on another forum I'm on and people gave possible solutions that might help you... I'll go findy.

Edit: Think the OP deleted it, cos I can't find it anywhere.

Sooo, I only remember one possible solution.
On firefox.

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> (General tab) -> Then either tick/untick 'Use smooth scrolling'.

I get this also! It's so annoying when it happens, I always think I've got a virus. Vista is a pain because sometimes the clock on the taskbar just freezes and I hover over it and the taskbar disappears.

Oh I get something similar to this! It's very annoying, also when I get it it usually comes with this thing that EVERY time I click on something even on a tool bar it opens a new window!

None of those work, Lauren

Thanks for trying though. There's nothing wrong with the up/down keys...or the mouse really. It stops doing the annoying-scrolling once the mouse-cursor is not in the window. So it's obviously a software problem.

If you have a laser mouse, then it might be oversensitive to something that you have left nearby

It's static electricity that is building up in your body. When you earth yourself the problem will go away and comes back again as you recharge.

I had the same problem here, it's the way the touchpads on laptops work.

Saying that it never happens to the macbook, just the Windows Machines. My £350 cheap PC did it until it was stolen and £850 replacement does the same.

What I do is go and touch the radiator now and again.

By the way fiddling with the windows touchpad settings didn't help at all and sometimes made thing worse.

Solution - throw it out the window and buy a macbook.

Or do what I do, and not use the touch pad and fit a mouse. Mine plugs in via a USB port at the back

These are cheaper (they only cost £4) and you can still use the PC while on the bed.....

Only one problem is that they aren't very fashionable.

I'm not sure if you wanted to help or just tell everyone that you have an £850 laptop!
