Im sick off people patronising mikey and treating him like a special head just because he's blind.

We all know he was rubbish at that punching bag thing and there they were cheering him on and bigging him up as if he was liberating france.

It wasn't really 'having a go', but he was putting across his views in the manner he saw fit - and I thought he was right. He did say it in a negatively, but everything he said I agreed with. I don't think Mo & Kat meant to sound patronising, but they applaud whatever Mikey does, as do Rach/Mario.

Mikey seems to love the attention as well though. Although he doesn't try to make excuses for his blindness, he does enjoy the attention.

I don't think anyone means to sound patronising but it is patronising nevertheless. He doesn't always enjoy being treated like that, he has said in the dairy room at least once before that he has capabilities like every other human being. Just because he may enjoy the attention doesn't mean that other blind people would. Im glad you agreed.

i know it might feel patronising to mikey but he should take it in stride. it just shows that they are sensitive to his disability and even more so after the blind man task... the way i look at it they feel like they owe him something and are trying to make up for it...hence the cheering and over-supportiveness.

well...to be honest, Mickey did better than Stu, so deserved the praise.

and I'm shocked I think that...as I don't like Mickey...and that the speed ball is hard to do for anyone, Mickey did a pretty good job for his first time (unless he used to be a boxer of course)

Darnell feels that way because he himself is partially blind, and he obviously doesn't like that sort of attention, however, individual people are just that, "individual" Mickey seems to like people helping and giving praise...otherwise he would have beaten Mario to death by now.

you can't treat ALL blind people the same way, some will want to be left to do there own thing, while others will want help.
