Default Tonight\'s Psych Show

Tonight Big Brother's TV team of psychology experts discuss and dissect the housemates behaviour.

They do not have any direct contact with the housemates and are not involved in counselling them. (There is an on-site psychologist who can offer confidential psychological support to the housemates if necessary).

Psychologist Professor Geoffrey Beattie and psychiatrists Dr Gareth Smith and Dr Sandra Scott will be discussing the following themes tonight:

Dangerous Liaisons

Sandra Scott discusses her observations of Stuart and Michelle's relationship. She believes it's clear how Michelle is feeling but Stuart is sending out mixed messages.

The Grade A student has a great deal of difficulty articulating his feelings towards Michelle and this is causing him great anxiety.

And, says Dr Scott, if Stuart can't contain his anxiety, it will be the nail in the coffin of their relationship.

Guilty Secret

Dr Gareth Smith discusses Nadia's secret. She has chosen to keep this from the House but it puts her in an uncomfortable situation.

The housemates have noted their suspicions and Nadia is feeling she's deceiving them.

Nadia's secret is now a guilty one. If suspicions continue to grow and she is forced to reveal it, the others may see her as deceptive and dishonest.

When will the secret out?

The Mediator

Geoffrey Beattie observes Daniel's new position in the House. From day one Daniel had the ability to communicate across the divides in the group.

The reason why Daniel can interact so successfully with such different individuals, says Professor Beattie, is because he has two distinct sides to his character.

On the one hand he is outrageous, egotistical and loud, and on the other, he is much calmer, more mature and grounded. He can identify with each individual in a way that few members of the House can.

After Wednesday night, he became the ultimate bridge builder and facilitated the peace negotiations.

Tune into tonight's hour-long show for the full story...

Yeah it will be good to see the psycho babble back. I never take them too seriously as they nearly always state the obvious that any Tom ----- or Harry would say. But they are entertaining like astrolgy readings and fortune tellers.

I agree, but it took BB long enough to bring "The Psych Show" back.

possssssibly so, but I still think Stuart is holding back because he is very aware of the odd few million peeps watching.

Either that, or he is worried about catching something untoward from the canny wee lass

So unless she plies him with the demon drink it looks like oor chicken isn't going to get the fame and notoriety (not to mention the 50 grand) ........ but then again ........ if she does get him drunk ....... he might not be able ....... hmmmmm?

The one thing that annoyed me about that article was that I don't agree with Dr Beattie's opinion that Dan is egotistical - he is NOT.

egotistical
Doesn't that simply mean he likes "Eggs"

Dan does seem to be a bit of a control freak. That's why he was good at calming them down. He loves and is good at controlling a situation.

Not at all sure we have or will see the real "Dan" though.....

He reminds me of Alex a bit (who I also liked) - 'cause he didn't like mess or arguments much either, but then became loved by the fans for his dry wit (which Dan has).

Anyone ever met any 20 year old male able to articulate his finer feeling well?

He is, however, only a baby. I bet his mum is watching and clucking her disapproval at Michelle. After all, the dear little chap is an innocent abroad, vulnerable to becpme the prey of girls with facelift hairdo's and white stilettoes

She did not seem like that when she appeared by telephone link on the E-forum tonight.

Have just watched the psychs at work - it brought back to me just how reeeallly bad they are.

Judging by their delivery their TV/media coach must be Mystic Meg. However, their amateur presentation is as nothing compared to the stream of meaningless twaddle that comprises their theories. Their half-baked meanderings are 'supported' by heavily edited clips of the chosen victim(s) where even sentences are cut to remove anything which doesn't agree with their pet ideas.

This lot manage to give psycho-babble an even worse name.

Psych Show: The Experts' View
Day 25, 23:00
Monday 21 June

In tonight's Psych Show, Big Brother's panel of experts voiced their opinions on Nadia, Dan and the romance between Stuart and Michelle.

Here's what they had to say...

Dr Gareth Smith - No Man's Land

The secret of Nadia's sex change is becoming a burden to her as time goes on, with several of the housemates already having suspicions about her. She now feels she is deceiving them.

Nadia revels in her newfound femininity and forms part of Marco's "harem." Being part of this group is attractive to Nadia as their behaviour is similar to female adolescents. They indulge in make-up sessions, slumber parties, food fights and dance routines.

But she showed a more mature side when she was the first to apologise for her part in the events of Day 20. However, despite instigating a more open atmosphere in the House as a result of her apology, it may come back to haunt her. It was a perfect opportunity to share her secret but she chose not to - and if the other housemates do find out, she may be perceived as deceitful.

Geoffrey Beattie - The Mediator

Daniel has always been able to successfully communicate with most of the housemates as his character has two distinct sides. He can be loud, egotistical and outrageous as well as being calmer and more mature.

The housemates began to mistrust his multiple sides and he was nominated for eviction. However, he was instrumental in bringing the group together after the explosive events of Day 20. He played a vital role in peace negotiations among the group and was invaluable to their psychological well-being.

Sandra Scott - thinks Stuart is anxious....

The key to who he feels close to lies in his body language and his micro behaviour suggests he is closer to the more mature housemates. But he feels caught between the younger and older housemates and it is putting him under pressure.

Sandra Scott - Dangerous Liaisons

Michelle and Stuart have been close since their arrival. Michelle has always been open about her feeling towards Stuart but he has sent out mixed messages.

The group have been asked to wear heart rate monitors at certain times, one occasion being the night Michelle and Emma returned to the House.

When Michelle revealed herself to the group, Stuart's reaction was calm and his heart rate didn't increase. It was only when Michelle initiated physical contact 22 minutes later that his heart rate leapt 50%.

It is possible this reaction was an anxious rather than a sexual one. He has already voiced worry about his emotions in the Diary Room. If he cannot contain his anxiety any budding relationship between the two is likely to fail.

pshychologists are just hilarious to listen too. They would be more acurate if they read riddles from xmas crackers.

What they are good at is turning something that is quite simple to work out in to something that seems complicated.

Semi off topic but I saw the Trisha show today (Yes I am sad) the phsyco babble man had the wool well and truly pulled over his eyes by one character. All his body language training and probably years at uni came to nothing.

The BB bunch came to no conclusions that any ordinary Joe Bloggs off the streets would have come to.

In a meeting I once had the pleasure of replying to a psychologist "that's easier done than said"
