Default Ear Problems

My hearing went bad after a build up of wax so I used Otex ear drops, which just made it even worse so now I am using warm olive oil, which isnt making much difference either. I am getting syringed next week, will this definately clear it?

Well "hear" are my tips for a heathly ear:
. Clean with a damp cotton bud but don't be heavy handed(you will regret it).
. Clean every two days or every three depending on your cleaning Rasheme.
. Don't youse soap can cause infection.

I get this a lot, well maybe 2-3 times a year. One morning I'll just wake up and I can't hear anything out one ear, because it gets blocked down near the ear drum tunnel bit. I too tried ear drops and warm olive oil, but they did nothing for me... infact I think the olive oil is actually meant as a prevention method, rather than a solution.

Your two options are both similar. You can go to your local nurse and they have a device to unblock it. You basically tilt your head to one side, with a small bucket type thing under your ear to catch all the water, then they squirt warm water into your ear quite fast (doesn't hurt at all, infact it feels really nice ). Takes about 15 seconds I think.

Or you can buy a syringe for ears from a chemist, or boots. You have to fill the syringe with water, place it down your ear and then squeeze quite hard (well I had too!). It took a few attempts to get it right, and was the more painful way or doing it.#

So yea, the syringing at the doctors will definitely clear it. It's weird once you've had it done, I felt all wobbly for 15mins after. After not having any sound out of one ear for a week before I had it done, I lost all sense of balance when I got hearing back

I'd avoid cleaning your ears with cotton buds though... they are usually the cause of this when you don't actually clean the ear, you push the wax deep into the part where it can't be reached.

Good luck!

You probably felt dizzy because strangely enough the ears are what keep us balanced, there is fluid in our ears that keeps our head balanced. I only know the small details I havent looked at the diagram for years.
When it was blocked your head was unbalanced but you kind of adjusted so that when it was removed you had to adjust again.
The fluid is why if you spin around and get dizzy... but then spin around the other way it stops haha.

I believe its the blue bit... someone please correct me if im wrong
...actually im not sure that could be to connect to the nerves, but then again it could be both.

Re cotton buds. A doctor once told me "The smallest thing you should put in your ear is your elbow"
