Wasting Food [Threads Merged]
Quote:
Waste is leaving a sour taste
ANGRY viewers hit by soaring food bills have bombarded BB bosses with complaints about housemates wasting nosh.
Fans protested after a series of food fights and the giant baguette-eating task which made Kat VOMIT.
Housemates were challenged to chomp down the 5ft Brie and grape baguette — but only managed 3ft and binned the rest.
Just days after PM Gordon Brown urged Brits to stop chucking out good food, housemates hurled milk and cereal at each other during Darnell’s presidential breakfast.
They also wasted a week’s supply of chickpeas during an hour-long grub battle. Last night a Big Brother spokeswoman admitted the show had received a stream of complaints — but stressed that housemates would pay for their wastefulness.
She said: “We have had 20 complaints from members of the public about food wastage. The housemates are now aware that they must be more careful.
“They are responsible for the purchase and preparation of their food and meals, and BB provides recycling for waste.
“For the last week housemates have been on a basic shopping budget of a £1 per person a day. Any waste of food will result in them going hungry.”
Darnell got a telling off from BB producers after the breakfast battle.
Bex and Mohamed threw jugs of milk over each other as fellow housemates fled.
Later contestants “exchanged fire” with suncream bombs before drenching each other with water.
They then lobbed chickpeas trodden into the carpet.
House walls, sofas and carpets were smeared with suncream.
In another incident, busty Bex cooked a mix of spaghetti and corned beef — solely with the intention of chucking it over Rex’s head. But the chef hit out, telling the nursery nurse: “What does that look like to the people outside — to see you wasting food?”
Bex previously started another food fight and forced JELLY down Luke’s trousers.
Dale, Stu and Darnell rallied to defend him and hurled grub at her, including peanut butter.
But Bex upped the ante by emptying a can of spaghetti on Dale.
He begged for mercy as she attacked him in the bathroom.
By the time it died down, Bex had been covered in peanut butter, chocolate sauce and spaghetti.
Following the battle, Luke told housemates he had been scarred by the attack.
He said: “I had jelly stuck in parts of my body that I never thought possible.”
