Are you talking about smacking? There is no need to smack what so ever. It is just bad parenting.

I agree with you society has got worse in the past 10 years I moved to colchester in the 70s it was a great place to live schools were good you might get the odd fight but no knives were used then as they are now.I got married and moved to Greenstead Estate where we had a flat let me tell youGreenstead has the unfortunate honour of being one of the the largest council estates in Europe (stretching from Greenstead Road to Othello Close) with around 3,500 dwellings, dating from the 50s, 60s and 70s.
These properties tend to be good value for money and subsequently many are now owner occupied, but there's still a fair proportion which are used for social housing. No point in lying: a sprawling council estate is never going to cut it as a residential highlight of an area and there are some troubles which often come with the territory.Well they weren't joking I lived there for 7 years and eventually sold up and moved as we had neighbours from hell forcing us out won't go into full details because we still visit colchester once a week as our daughter is buried in the cementary their. But it's not only colchester its everywhere now I'm even terrified to go out after dark just going to our local shops in the winter is traumatic you've got yobs hanging around the local shops drinking swearing and you feel imdiated all the time. I do beleive in some cases it's down to the parents and the way they've brought up their children not enough discipline and the schools have got worst the teachers are now scared of the pupils which in my day you got the cane if you were naughty now police are involved at my daughters secondary school aged 13 two were expelled because of drugs, and also some youts setting fire to the school children climbing on the roofs in break times i could go on and on.I used to be frighten off my teachers at school but thats not the case nowadays.I brought up my children to respect everyone and anything but this is not always the case in todays society. |

Discipline is a key but above all love and lack of it conquors all.
The analogy to a puppy is a good one, sure a puppy needs guidance and discipline but also encouragement and loving attention when it DOES WELL. Thats the key where todays media get it screwed up, to many times now all I see on TV and Newspapers is the young rewared air time for shoddy behaviour and criminal activity. Only those who have got a job at Mcdonalds when paroled from prison seem to get any prasie whatsover. I'm getting sick of seeing hour long documentries of kids in gangs, the worst the best, the largest, the darkest the lightest, hell any definition now the media pounces on another excuse to show shocking behaviour and pass it of as entertainment. If you ever got housebound for a year and viewed the world by TV only, you'd be forgiven that every youth carries a knife and has used it at least once in a fatal attack. Programmes entiled "Banged Up" you'd have to check whether or not this was yet another show about youths inside prison or a show about young girls being preganant again for the 5th 6th time. Rather than a series of disarming Britain how about a series of programmes entitled re-charming Britain, with the very easy to find examples of good young people who really are talented. How about the majority of the young being shown, those who take up and pass there A-levels, University diplomas (they are on the increase) how about showing kids with decent views like the kids here do so well day in day out on this forum How about for once just have a youth on TV who can actually speak the same language as you and I "innit" ![]() How about our socierty pleading with the media to show what is the rule of the young not just a wall to wall shcedule of the few vile exceptions to it. Lets give them that deserve a chance for an hours peak TV time, and lets all be properly entertained and happy. On this forum we have Lauren and Rocko(at least) who have passed courese at the highest levels, we have Nicky, Xander, (and many others) with incredible graphic skills that would make the contestants on the Apprentice look like......... well the contestants on the Apprentice. The list of youths here with good clean and respetful views and attitudes are far to great to list, but all have REAL TALENT. Like a puppy, no matter how much discipline you give, without properly giving attention and loving reward when that puppy has earnt it, you will always have a unloved, and sadly ill diciplined hoplessly resentful mongrel when they grow up, and the only way to gain attention where it matters is do whatever they want thats no good at all. |

YOU LIVE IN COLCHESTER!!! whereabouts?
and I don't think smacking is bad parenting, if the child has done something really naughty or something. I keep hearing kids swearing and it is actually appalling :/ |
