Default Do You Masticate?

How often do you masticate properly?

Have you ever seen someone wolf down their food? No chewing, just single bites to get something big enough in their mouth and then swallow!

Chewing has several benefits including:

1. Oral Hygiene (producing saliva which helps protect teeth enamel)
2. Weight management (taking longer to eat your food, allowing your stomach and brain the time to realise you are full)
4. Appreciating the taste/flavours of your meal!
5. Alertness and concentration as well as stress relief (chewing gum through out the day apparently helps here. Notice number 3 is missing?)

What's your masticating habits?

I remember watching a programme on Victorian diets, and apparently chewing your food 32 (I think!) times loses the weight you put on from eating it in the first place.

Is it that you get bored and lose your appetite? lol

Celery works like that, no? The effort to chew it is more calories than what you'd take it.

I swallow as fast as I can, if I chew for too long I think about how mushy it is and then I have to spit it out.
