Default Hippy Harmonies

Victor returned from the Diary Room to share instructions for today's task - a 'Folk Off' -with the group.

Housemates were told to split into two teams, A and B. Each team were provided with a guitar, tambourine, Arran jumpers and fake beards.

Who do you think said, "This looks wicked," as soon as he could peek in the store room? No prizes for guessing Stuart.

Victor told the housemates they had to write a folk song, with an original tune and original lyrics.

However, Team A's song must include the words 'pipe', 'Shrewsbury' and 'fair maiden'. Team B's song must include the words 'barley', 'heritage' and 'bicycle'.

After the three-hour time limit, housemates will gather round two fake campfires in the garden and 'folk off'. Each team must perform their songs in the full costumes provided in order to pass the task.

Housemates have Stuart, Shell and Becki to choose from on guitar. Shell got folky straight away while Stuart bashed out a version of George Michael's 'Faith'.

There's nowt as strange as folk music.

Here's an article on the task from Ananova

'Folk off' task for housemates

The housemates have split in to two teams for the latest task - to write and perform an original folk song.

Each group has been provided with a guitar, tambourine, Arran jumpers and fake beards for the 'Folk Off' task.

Victor read out the instructions - the song must have an original tune and original lyrics.

However, Team A's song must include the words 'pipe', 'Shrewsbury' and 'fair maiden'.

Team B's song must include the words 'barley', 'heritage' and 'bicycle'.

After the three-hour time limit, housemates will gather round two fake campfires in the garden and 'folk off', according to the Channel 4 Big Brother website.

Each team must perform their songs in the full costumes provided in order to pass the task.

An eager Stuart bashed out a version of George Michael's Faith as he warmed up for the task.

Having just heard then sing I now want them all evicted and sentenced to life imprisonment with no reduction for good behavour.

The song is terrible. The singing is terrible. It's even started raining indoors and the TV is in meltdown.

For Folk's Sake

Housemates completed today's task after Big Brother told them they must 'Folk off'.

First up to sing their folk song was Team A, comprising Becki on guitar, Marco on tambourine, Dan, Nadia, Shell and some of the worst harmonies ever to reach the ears of man.

All folksy jumpers and beards, they performed their self-penned 'Barley Heritage Bicycle of Love' with gusto.

The track was well received by Team B, all of whom blissed out to the tune except Ahmed, who sat inscrutably behind his false beard.

Team B then kicked off with Stuart on guitar, accompanied by the vocal backing of Michelle, Ahmed, Victor and Jason and the second worst harmonies ever to reach the ears of man.

They sang 'I Smoke My Pipe' to a swaying and appreciative audience of Team A arm-wavers.

Afterwards Victor congratulated Team A on their composition. "That was a good song," he told them. And later in the day, he was still singing the catchy chorus.

Doubtless record companies will be queuing to sign the housemates up for chart success.

Bob Dylan, eat your heart out...

Make sure that you come back later to find out if the housemates have passed all their tasks this week.

If sucessful they'll be raving at a Big Brother 'full moon' party and eating their weekly rations as normal, if not there'll be many miffed individuals, and that toilet roll is going to have to go a long, long way...

Article from The Sun...

House goes hippy, Bro

THE Big Bruv housemates were gearing up for a "full-moon" hippy rave last night.

They were planning to howl the place down as a reward for passing their Glastonbury task.

That involved holding a mini-music festival like the famous Somerset gathering that ended this week.

During the final part yesterday they had to compose and perform folk songs.

Dressed in jumpers and fake beards, they split into two teams and sang their songs accompanied by Stuart and Becki on guitars.

Dan really got into the festival mood.

The contestants were due to receive fluorescent body paint, tie-dye outfits and henna tattoos for the rave.

But yesterday it was still not clear if Big Brother would give them any booze for the bash - taking place two days ahead of the REAL full moon.

Bosses brought in a no-alcohol policy after the drunken riot where Victor and Emma threatened to kill each other.

A show spokeswoman said: "We're still deciding whether to give them alcohol."

However, completing the task temporarily took the housemates' minds off tomorrow night's eviction.

Michelle threw a massive strop after finding out she was up for the boot again - without knowing Big Brother bitch Becki had nominated her.

Nadia and Marco have also been nominated for eviction this week.

Meanwhile, soft-natured Shell tried to cheer up Michelle by telling her she thought she and Stu had a future outside the house.

Marco is now the hot favourite to get the shove, with Michelle behind him. Former bookies' favourite Nadia's odds have drifted.

Ladbrokes has Marco at 4/5, Michelle 7/4, Nadia 4/1.
