I've watched only up to the All-Stars season, but I definitely think that the original Survivor was the best (and actually the island was not far from where Shipwrecked is currently filmed!)

Mainly because it was a brand new experience and it really was the first mega hit reality show (besides The Real World, but that was an exception, it got trashy after the 2nd season)

I also enjoyed the 2nd season as well, but I think that the gameplay just got nastier and nastier as the seasons went on: a contestant even lied that his grandmother died so that the other contestants would reward him with a prize!

The format is so worn out now, but I was obsessed with Survivor: Palau Tiga/Borneo and Survivor: Australia.

Survivor Micronesia is definitely thez best, even the host Jeff said it. It was just speechless, I was glued to it.

Micronesia was a great season, but if you've not seen past seasons, with there being 10 'favorites', you'd probably be best watching a different one ... China was pretty good, then again after Fiji, anything was an improvement.

China was great, I do remember we both loved Jamie.

Anyway Survivor Gabon is very promising, can't wait for the 2 hours premier on September 25th.

Best seasons in my eyes are definitely Borneo (the very first season), Australian Outback, Amazon, Pearl Islands, All-Stars, Cook Islands, China and Fans v Faves.

Also I think Vanuatu and Guatemala are really underrated seasons.

I'd say watch them all because Survivor is the ultimate reality game show and I don't agree that the format is "worn out", unlike other reality shows, at least Survivor attempts new things each series from Exile islands, to hidden immunity idols and the challenges are always great. And Micronesia - Fans v Faves was a great season and that only happened back this February, that had plenty of twists and turns and was highly entertaining.

That's why Survivor is so great, it can have it's bad seasons (Thailand, Fiji) but then it can come back next season and be incredibly entertaining again (Amazon, China).

I'm a huge Survivor fan (it's my favorte show ever), and my favorite season has been Pearl Islands. It was absolutely perfect entertainment-wise, and it ended up having a perfect winner.

But if you haven't done so already (though I'm expecting that you've already watched a season since this thread is a month old), I would say that you should watch the first season first, simply because it's the first season. It's not my favorite, but it's a good way to get acquainted with the show.
