I think Christopher Eccleston will bring a darker edge to the role and has for Billie Piper, well i couldn't comment.

The darleks are dated, just tacky and cheesy. thank god, there being left in the past, I don't think they would of worked with the 21st century new doctor who.

No Save the Daleks!!!!..................

Daleks are on the march

The metal monsters were outraged that they are not to appear in the new series of Dr Who.

And as they trundled through the streets of Southampton with human fans, hundreds more bombarded The Sun with phone calls and emails echoing the Daleks’ battle cry: “Don’t let us be exterminated”.

Phil Rees, of Welshpool, said: “Thank God The Sun is championing them so that new fans can enjoy the best Dr Who villain ever.”

The new series starring Christopher Ecclestone as The Doctor begins filming next month.

But The Sun told yesterday how the BBC, which wants to update the Daleks, had failed to agree terms with the family of their late creator Terry

Protest leader Chris Balcombe, 54, said: “Everyone associates Dr Who with the Daleks. If an amicable deal isn’t reached, millions of fans will be disappointed.”

The Nation estate’s agent, Tim Hancock, who has been negotiated with the BBC, said: “I’m very sorry for Dr Who fans.

“We accept the Daleks need modernising, and are all for it. All we ask is that they consult us on the designs. But the BBC are not prepared to.”

Evil BBC

If they where update, with a new design and CGI, then they would probably work.

But it looks like the BBC Aren't interested

BBC set for extermination as the Daleks make a return

Gordon MacMillan, Brand Republic 09:00 05-08-2004
LONDON - The BBC is set to delight fans of the new 'Doctor Who' now that, after much wrangling, it has signed a deal to ensure that Britain's most loved race of evil robots will make a return in the new series next year.

The Daleks, who have been backed in their attempt to return to the small screen by a high-profile tabloid campaign in The Sun, which today features a Dalek on Page 3 with two supporting models, will make an appearance in the new 'Dr Who', starring Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor.

Mal Young, BBC controller of continuing drama series, and Tim Hancock, agent for the Terry Nation Estate, which owns the rights to the Daleks, announced the deal last night and said the robots would be back on screens next year.

The Terry Nation Estate and the BBC had earlier failed to reach a deal that would ensure the Daleks, who were the Doctor's long-time arch enemies, would return, with talks foundering after the estate said the BBC was attempting to "ruin the brand of the Daleks" and take control of their image.

According to Young: "As well as coming face-to-face with a number of new and exciting monsters, it's good news that the Doctor will also do battle with his arch enemy, the Daleks, in a series that promises to surprise and entertain a new generation."

The new 13-part series, starring Eccleston as the Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, the Doctor's companion, is currently filming in Cardiff and London for transmission in 2005.

The new show is being written by Russell T Davies of 'Queer as Folk' fame, and Steven Moffat of 'Coupling' and 'Press Gang' among others.

Terry Nation was a prolific writer and, as well as writing many episodes of 'Doctor Who' and creating the Daleks, also created 'Blake's 7' and 'The Survivors'.

I think Chris Eccleston is a fantastic choice for the role and Billie'll make a feisty Rose Tyler. It should turn out to be a real success, what with these two actors, Russell T Davies producing it and the Daleks coming back! I read in The Sun yesterday that it's gonna be broadcast in October - I hope that's right!

My fave Doctor Who is Tom Baker.

Doctor Who meets his most hardest adversary and this time its curtains for the Doctor

See the final storyline

In

Doctor Who and the PC Jobsworths
  • Why is the Doctor a man and why is he always white
  • As his assistants are vulnerable people from Earth, why has he not been vetted by the CRB
  • Is the Tardis really the most environmentally friendly means of transport
  • When you were flying through hyperspace, we detected you were eating an apple and were therefore not in full control of your vehicle
  • You cant materialise that here without planning consent
  • We have no records of the Doctor paying his NI contributions
  • As the Doctor is an alien, he must leave the country and apply for a visa like everyone else

A couple more for you Sticks.

  • Does the Doctor suffer from multiple personality disorder - after all those changes of body must have an effect on him
  • Just what is he a Doctor of?
  • What happened to K9
  • Where does he get his assistants from?
