when an ape is attacked it performs what looks like an entirely unrrelated and counter-productive gesture, lke yawnig, grooming and scratching.or it will even flirt.humans flirt when they with someone they fancy.but what about flirting at work.what about those peopple who turn on the charm with everyone in the the building?
are they corporate nymphos maniacs/probably not. human fliting can be similar to to ape flirting signals. apes employ flirting that is called a distraction process. they will flirt for sex,but there flirting is also to signal submissiveness to the alphas.the flirting is full on industrial strenth too, a bit like saras when she entered the house, this is to disract the other mambers of the group from turning against her.its a ploy used to keep harmony in the work place and helps to avoid conflict. now saras accepted in the house she has toned down her flirting albeit just enough not to threaten other members of the house.but saras has commited the cadinal sin playing with hms affections and emotions that if it was done in an ape colony the female would either be ousted or fought over by other males.,which will undo all the good work that she done when she first entered the house.so we will just have to wait and see if he subconsious behaviour has worked. its just a theory though. |
