Item one, the should really have been started in the news section

Item two, when you start attacking ethnic Russians in South Ossettia what do you expect to happen.

Georgia brought it on itself and thank God they did not get to join NATO otherwise we would now all be treaty bound to be at war with Russia.

It had to happen, I"m not surprised at all, my father always told me it was going to happen.
I think the conflict is more complicated than we think and it's not ready to stop anytime soon.

Russia dont like the fact that georgia are pro-western, pro-usa! Its funny that a major gas pipeline runs thru georgia Russia still living in the cold war but maybe the cold war never ended... Russia playing "im still a big boy" game and south ossettia just pawns in the russian game.
Iran.. Russia.. North korea & china we have to watch.

If Georgia were brought back in to Mother Russia, would that be such a bad thing if it brought peace.

Georgia started it with their attempts at genocide

Any proof of this attempted genocide?
Georgia does not need a return of the dark years of the red empire to brink peace, russia leaving georgia alone will help and same with russia leaving the ukraine etc alone. The old bully still cant let go but they stole lands anyway!.. Russia will want peace when they have georgia and the caspian gas pipeline under its control. We are seeing a rebirth of the soviet years.

I agree with Sticks on this one. Russians were the ones being attacked here, not the Georgians.

As soon as Tbilisi falls, then maybe there will be peace

All we have to do is just do business with Russia, the de facto rulers of Georgia

Theres a lil game some play.. United states have done it, the uk have done, iran do it alot and russia do it all the time.. Its called feed the rebel. Russia have been supporting the two breakaway regions for sometime and guns that the rebels have are from russia.. Georgia was tricked into this and was planned very well by the russians. The game is to destroy georgia bit by bit..

The timing is a bit convenient. Olympic coverage on the news has practically been shunted to the "and finally" with the rest of the bulletins being taken up by this.

Russia have planned this for some time now..plus this is nothing new if you look up the region. Russia have been arming the break away rebels for some time for the rebels to attack georgian targets. Russia wanted this to happen so they can move into georgia and bring the downfall of the georgian nation and put in a puppet leader that only listens to the kremiln.. Russia wants its former lands back (which they stole) in order to keep them away from the west.. The cold war never really ended and russia hold more cards today than ever.. The west need russia for its gas and its ability to hold talks with iran, china and north korea. The evil empire is upto its old tricks again... And its a deadly game with many poor people being the pawns in the game.

Indeed. I agree completely with you post. Russia and the cold war has never been over. Just swept under the carpet. The west has been far to lenient with Russia and its ever internal controling ways......With Russia its about spare the rod and spoil the child.......The west has certainly spoilt that child which is becoming an ever increasing monster....

Its a game that the united states and russia have not won yet... The late 80s/early 90s did see a victory for the west but like you said it was just swept under the carpet.. Bit like after ww1 and we know what happend after that... Which caused more mess. Its easy to think that ww3 will never happen but did we are in a worse state than before. In the future people will look back and they will see that the end off ww2 was just a long casefire.
