Default My plan for a SHORTER BB!

Let me know what you think! I decided to create it because I feel that this series of BB has really dragged on and gotten super dull. Other countries have had BBs that last MUCH longer, which works if it can be kept entertaining, but in my opinion isn't working for BBUK. (I'm just waiting for it to end!)

Week 0: 20 brand new housemates enter the Big Brother house! (This may sound like a lot, but it's actually only 4 more than entered on launch night this year.)

Now, here's where the twist comes in. If at ANY point 3 or more people are up, there is a DOUBLE eviction!

Weeks 1-9: Eviction, and double eviction when 3 or more people are up. If people are leaving too quickly, then this can be changed to make sure there are at least 4 people in the finale.

Now, as we know, there are often people who walk or are ejected. Having 20 housemates allows for this. No replacements or canceled evictions when someone leaves!

This works out perfectly. In the finale there will likely be between 4 and 6 people, all of which would be fine numbers.

So... what do you think?

Thanks!

Even though my plan is actually 10 weeks, as week 0 is actually only day one (launch night), which with my schedule would be on a Friday.

It's a good idea. It's not too long and it accounts for most eventualities.

I like the idea of 20 Hm's at the start and the 11 week maximum for the series.
Another few "twists" or complete rule changes I'd like to see are the fact nominations discussions are punished by expulsion at 3rd time the HM is guilty.
I'd also like to see that incorporate HM's who mention to others that they wish to leave the show, 3rd strike and out you go.

Oh, and my daughter came up with a "new idea" the other day, she said, how about any evicted HM who's eviction vote is under 60% (i.e. its close) as a bonus to him or her they get to automatically put any HM up for eviction the following week together with the 2 that are nominated.
This would counter balance "groups" being whitteled down, in this series I think just Luke would have qualified for this "perk"

I really like that idea! Recently housemates have been getting away with way too much and this would really stop them in their tracks.

Ooh! I like that as well. It would be cool to see who people pick, and it would make housemates really think about if they want a certain person to go.

No don't like the idea at all. Having a lot of people to shoot down is what is wrong with modern BB series. It turns the format into the equivalent of a shooting gallary on a fair ground instead of a psychological game show which it should be.....A game show that develops story lines and interactions. Not a show that as soon a story line develops a main character is evicted......

Whats needed is later eviction.....(At least two weeks before any genuine eviction takes place). Evictions from week one gives no one either viewers or housemates to properly evaluate each other let alone develop relationships of either hate or love.....

There should always be three up for eviction (to confuse the bookies) and they should vote to save.......

Its an OK plan I suppose, but BB3, 5 and 6 are considered the best among most fans and the housemate count overall was much less than any later series. I think the main problem is an overload of housemates. The less the better.

Apart from that I still think series should be reduced back down to 9 weeks a year.

A better plan would be a vote to save, and to keep the entertaining housemates in and evict the boring ones. If stuart goes this week over Rachel it proves that people are voting out bigger characters over boring characters.

The series could go on for even longer if this simple change was put into place.

Excellent point BapStar. If after 5 weeks only 5 people have gone, BB should just automatically put the 3 people with the most nominations up each week OR instead of only close calls getting to pick a person up the next week (as Angiebabe suggested), the evicted housemate always picks one person to automatically face eviction and that person goes up against the other two+ who are up. If this were implemented in week 5, then there would be no more than 5 housemates remaining for the finale.

The only thing that annoys me is having people enter the house after day one who haven't been in hiding. I want them to lock the doors on day one and from then on the only way to go is out. In my opinion the whole point of BB is that no one knows anything about the outside world. They don't know if they're liked or not. They're completely isolated. I feel that having new people enter defeats the purpose. Even if they're not allowed to talk about the outside world, they still show things with their body language and who they talk to, and they still know everyone's secrets/game plans and that will affect who they nominate.

That's true. The worst thing is that there's usually a boring person up as well who ends up staying.

My plan actually involves fewer people total than the show currently has each series. If the show were not about being a shooting game, there wouldn't be any evictions at all. They could just put everyone in at the beginning, then at the end the public votes who should win out of everyone. (This would actually be a good show, in my opinion, even if it weren't Big Brother).

Hm, the sad thing is that that's probably true. BB7 a lot of good characters were still in there and that wasn't boring at all at the end.
