Sony has announced it will launch a successor to its best-selling PlayStation Portable handheld system during a speech at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany.

The PSP-3000 will feature an "advanced LCD screen supporting higher image quality" and will launch in Europe on October 15, complete with one software title, for €199 (£158).

Sony said the new PSP screen will allow for "crisper colours with more definition when outside in natural light".

A number of one-title bundles will become available with the PSP-3000, including a GO! communications package, and several games bundles such as FIFA 09, Harry Potter and Buzz: Master Quiz.

Since the launch of the Slim & Lite PlayStation Portable in September 2007, more than 13.4 million units have been sold in PAL territories.

Not sure, its classified as PSP2

i think its just a upgrade

it wont have it's own games

the psp ive got is the white slim line one
which i got with final fantasy crisis core

I wont be getting it, I have the PSP and hate it
it will just be another flop like the PSP has been because of the Nintendo DS being dominant. A new DS is being released in Japan this year so expect that to crush the PSP.

No the PSP is on about 25million and the DS in on about 65million from the figures whish I saw last

Yeah It's just an upgrade. In that case I'll stick to the one I got, I'm not shelling out that much for a brighter picture and a microphone.

I've heard rumours and seen designs but I'll be surprised if a brand new DS will be out this year. Maybe a year or two, It always takes a few years to bring out a new console.
