I agree that TV should stick to the history and not change it about just to show they hire a wide range of people, wheras I don't know wether your Robin Hood example is right. But a good example of when they did it right was when on Doctor Who they went back to Shakespeare's times, the black girl got a lot of attention for the fact she was black.

Robin Hood is hardly realistic though isn't it? I think the actor in question is quite good in the role of the Monk so why point out his skin colour? So what if it's historically inaccurate? So is the hairstyles, Guy's eye make-up and lingo they speak with.

The man's good at the role that's all what matters.

yeah... it's hardly historical anyway.... it's a legend made up of 4 or 5 stories mashed together and then 700 years of story telling has made it a cool legend. So what other reason can we think of for why Arista hates the idea that a black guy is playing robin hood... hmmmmm
