Big Brother has sprung a surprise on the housemates by introducing a twist to Monday's nominations.

The group will be heading into the Diary Room as usual today - but instead of voting for who they want out, they will elect the next Head of House.

Sara took it upon herself to read the nomination rules aloud to the others. She announced: "You are reminded that your nominations must be your own choice and must not be influenced by any other housemate.

"You will be called to the Diary Room in alphabetical order. Housemates are not permitted to vote for themselves or any inanimate object."

"I'd like to vote for the chair," joked Darnell.

One by one, each housemate was summoned to the Diary Room, where they were instructed to vote for the next leader of the pack.

However, each of them were ordered not to reveal the catch to any of their fellow contestants.

The housemate elected to the head position will be immune from Friday's eviction - making the lucky soul eligible to win the show, as they will sail through to the final week.

Rex was asked to return his Head of House rosette to Big Brother shortly after he woke up.
