Sara is a single woman who's got a well payed job at MTV , Mo comes from a poor family he's Mum's a widow and he's got 12 brothers and sisters

I am sure that if Mo and his family have come to Britain as Asylum Seekers they are being very well looked after. And Mo works as well. Perhaps some of his 12 brothers and sisters work as well - quite a bit of money coming in if they do. And who wouldn't want 25k - who wouldn't want a £1000?! And as someone else pointed out none of the other housemates know anything about each other - apart from Rex they might all be desperate for the money - isnt that why they went into the show in the first place? And for their 15 minutes of fame.
