Default Exam results

So for us Scots, they come in on the 5th of August. Hands up if you're scared!?

What is it that makes exam results so scary?

Personally, I think it's the fear of the unknown combined with the fear of failure, but on the other hand I'm also scared by the future and the whole process of choosing some kind of path for myself in life once these exam results are in. The next chapter of my life will begin in 4 days time, if you will. So in that respect, I am scared of what the future may or may not hold for me!

Good plan. On the plus side, I get to come into work later than normal (I start at 8.30, results come in between 8-9)

Yes, always looking on the bright side, me.

In an office, all day. I won't be too specific, somebody might be watching me. How gutting if I've done rubbish; I'll go into work and people will be asking me how I did all day... I'm going to have to lie..!

Well I went for 4 Highers and an Int2 this year, the Int2 being in Maths, and that was an utter cakewalk, makes me wish I'd gone for the full five. I'm kind of hoping to go to uni, so I hope I've done really well because an Int 2 A is the equivalent of a Higher D. Meh. Without sounding arrogant, I'm hoping for maybe 3As and 2Bs. You never know with English, sometimes I think I did brilliantly and I do rubbish in Close Readings, and other times I'm pleasantly surprised.
Here's hoping it all went OK! Which subjects did you do this year Billy?

Not especially, I think English results are on the 14th right? Only 9 days after ours, so it's not like this is exclusive

Let's all panic together.

Yeah. Well there were a lot of people I knew of who got a mixture of 1s, 2s and 3s, and I think most of them decided to stay on for 5th year and seemed to have coped alright. I dunno if it'd be worth your while if you were getting mostly grades that were below a 3, but that decision's entirely up to you, obviously. I really enjoyed Higher French this year, though the speaking test was a bit of a killer, I did end up getting full marks on it (booyaaah) so it really depends on whether or not you think you'll enjoy the subjects.

Good luck! I remember last year posting my results on here, seems like a lifetime away!

Well you'd be OK for 5th year I'd think, if you get the 2s in the subjects you're continuing with in 5th year then you'd be OK!

Oh god I'm so glad I never have to do English again. I did the Da Vinci Code for my 4th year PSU it went alright, passed first time. I passed my 5th year one first time round (just, according to my teacher!) but shmeh a pass is a pass. Seriously though English is such a negative subject, it's the only subject that marks negatively (i.e. on your essays, you start with 25/25 and they take marks off for how rubbish your essay is.)
