Big Brother 9 Finale least watched ever

Last night’s Big Brother Finale was the least watched final ever, failing to pass the 5m mark.


The main results show at 10pm, which saw Rachel Rice crowned as winner, attracted 4.9m (24%).

On Channel 4, 4.7m (23%) watched, while a further 166,000 tuned into C4+1.

While still huge numbers for Channel 4, it was the least watched final in the show’s nine year history. Last year’s final pulled in 5.3m (29%). Last night’s audience was nearly half of the best rated Big Brother final, which was 9.4m in 2002 when Kate Lawler won.

Earlier in the night, Big Brother picked up 4.2m (19%) at 8pm.

On Channel 4, 3.85m (17%) watched, while a further 376,000 tuned into C4+1.

This was 1.1m down on last year’s first final show. This year’s show had the unfortunate scenario of going head-to-head with EastEnders and Coronation Street. Big Brother did knock down the soaps’ ratings, which were 6.6m (30%) for EastEnders and 7.1m (31%) for Coronation Street.

After the final, Big Brother’s Big Mouth on E4 saw a boost with 1.1m (9%), including +1. A BB-themed 8 Out Of Ten Cats special rated with 1.8m (14%).

The overnight series average of BB9 is: 3.3m (16%) compared to 3.8 last year.

mmhm but not surprising, and as they said it's still massive for Channel 4.

its still good but i am a bit gutted it didnt reach 6 or 7million i think maybe people are getting bored of BB i mean if you compare BB1,2,3,5 this is really low

Obviously...the novelty of the concept itself has worn off.

It shows the show is not as popular as previous years i think it will soon fizzal out as the viewing numbers are gradually going down and down each year.

These figured don't show how good a series was, its just people who watched previsou years have probably moved on and have better things to do with their lives, we all know how dull bb8 was so it is no comparison.
