i was gonna post this on the student room but i thought they'd like, laugh at me or something... and then magic inspired me.
for GCSEs I got:

7 As in english language, french, history, german, maths, statistics and religious studies
&
4 Bs in english literature [being remarked], science [being redone], art [grr] and latin [yay!]

I'm really worried my lack of A*s will stop me from going to the uni I want to go to.. like UCL... so I'm not sure what to do... :S help?

My alevel choices are french, german, history and philosophy.. [oh and compulsary critical thinking]

but i'm not sure about doing either of them at uni... the only thing appealing is archaeology but that's really hard to get into . or maybe law.

i was considering a year out, to maybe redo some gcses and get experience?

Honestly, with those results you really shouldn't worry about not getting excepted.

with them grades, plus your A Levels, plus some lovely other achievements, charity, fundraising etc etc....you will get in easy!
