I downloaded this "Cutting Edge" documentary today, and it was about Tania Head (Wiki), who claimed that she had survived the 9/11 attacks and was one of 14 people who were above or at the point of impact and survived.
She became the face/voice for all of the survivors of 9/11; however, she wasn't even in New York when it happened. She made it all up, including finding her "fiance" from a survivors book (whose friends say that he didn't ever date a woman named Tania) as well as created a lie about being saved by a heroic firefighter, who died. She even became close to his family. I must say, this woman is a pathetic and cruel human being. It just disgusts me. |

It was really good wasn't it! It amazes me how C4 can vary in quality to such an extent. I mean you go from this, a cutting edge, intellectual master peice . . . to The Perfect Vagina.

It's digusting she would sink to such a level. She took full credit for everything she did as well, which made it even worse. Apparently she committed suicide earlier this year.

To Callum: If I were here, I would commit suicide. Her story has spread around the world, her reputation has been ruined, and she was an attention seeking bitch. To think that she'd just try to attract even more fame by including the Wells firefighter, who was gaining popularity at the time. |

Just the fact that someone would take advantage of a horrible situation like that disgusts me. |

I did agree to an extent with what one of the survivors was saying at the end of the documentary. As in, Tania (or Alicia) did a lot for the organisation, however creating a story to put her in the public eye out of this is just incomprehensible. She's not even an American citizen.
She went through trouble in her life prior to this, but I don't understand how someone can take advantage of such traumatised people - in this case for their own benefit! She received fame from this, and I have no idea how she managed to keep up a fake personality for 5+ years. Just putting it down to having low self-esteem doesn't quite cut it. Apparently she has committed suicide, but I don't know. She could alter her appearance and be living life under another fake name... |

i watched this how anyone could do this i dont understand the program said she had been a part of a big lie prior to this so i am not sure i believe the suicide story it could just be her way of taking the pressure off herself she changed her name once so could do it again and live in the shadows
yes she did a lot for the organisation but if she really wanted to help she should have been honest from the start cos what she did was a very sick thing to do |

You're forgetting she did a lot for the victims families. She got them into the pentagon (or what ever its called) and helped a lot of them with their grief. What she did was wrong but I don't think her work should be disputed.

She did lie, it was bad and a weird sick thing to do
but she wasn't doing it in bad intentions. She was gaining attention to these victims and good did come out of it. This woman did go out of her way to help this group like getting the funding. So was it really that bad what she did? |

I don't believe she committed suicide, I reckon it's just another hoax. Especially seen as it came from a Spanish account.

The rumours of suicide are just that - rumours. Personally I think she's still alive.
I can understand why people were so angry - after all, this was an absolute tragedy for the people involved. Nonetheless, I couldn't help feeling a bit sorry for this woman. Surely this was a case of Munchausens by Proxy, which is a proper condition. She must really have had something missing from her life to have invented such a scenario. She did not do it to exploit people for money - in fact, she did a lot of good things for the survivors. I'm not saying what she did was okay; just that she must have really needed to feel like she fitted in somewhere. I noticed that most of the other survivors of 9/11 have been much more compassionate towards her than the people on this thread! |
