Default System restore help?

I was just wondering if anyone could help me with system restore? Basically, a few days ago I noticed I didn't have much space left on my computer so I started deleted random things in My Computer...and I think I may have deleted something important - but I didn't empty the recycling bin so it was still there. Anyway, yesterday I downloaded Microsoft Office but the set up wouldn't work as it said there was a problem with the disc (i didn't have one, hmm?) so thinking it was no use, I deleted it. Then I emptied the recyling bin to bump up my free space. Ever since then my computers been having problems. My internet only loads the homepage (MSN) but only a few other sites load. And my MSN Messenger freezes and does the 'don't send' thing just after I sign in.

So can system restore help me with this? I've never used it before so I didn't want to do it and potentially **** up my computer again. Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, just do a system restore to the last time you updated and your computer should be fine

Basically it cleans up files and stuff and is very very good at freeing up space. I lost 5gb by doing this.

Oooh! I think I saw that when I was going through it...but I didn't want it to delete something important. Problem is, I must have already and I need to try and get them back.

In programs go to accessories and then system tools for Windows.
