Tell a white lie and say you have a doctors/dentists appointment.

that probably what im gonna have to do, but i don't want to risk it as we are only allowed to go sick 3 times a year without a doctors note otherwise we get suspended and i dont wanna screw it up incase i dont get the new job.

You only need a doctors note if you are off ill for more than 3 consecutive days.

no this job is to replace my old job if i get it and i don't want them to know in case i don't, a friend who used to work with me told them and he didn't get it so they cut all his hours down to his contracted hours of 7.5 a week when he used to to do 30. Considering i do 42-48 hours atm i don't wanna risk losing it.

They cut his hours down? That's wrong. You're better off quiting, it sounds like a **** hole.

i enjoy working there tbh i just wanna change of career, and most people who are part time are only contracted to 7.5hours if you work well and get along with management they give you more which has happened to me.

But they are well wthin their rights to cut your hours down after all legally they only have to give me 7.5hours.

Just phone in and say that you are feeling ill and might be in later on in the day after taking tablets or something..

If not.. say someone is in hospital, traffic jam, domestic issue, locked inside the house (this has happened to me), just phone in sick - you dont need a doctors line until you have had 5 days off work in a row. (believe me I work for the government and learnt the acts inside out)

Not the best idea.

Most people who want a day off from work will use the same sort of excuses that you feel ill so you want a day off. My advice would be, "Say that your mother is ill" and you need to be there for her. You will get a bit more sympathy that way. and when you return back, everyone will say, "Hows your mother doing"? I hope she's okay.

Get my gist?
