Feature: I Will Survive
Day 68, 13:00 Tuesday 03 August Prior to going in the Big Brother House, we asked housemates about their plan for survival. We take a look at those who have survived and see if their answers match what's happened. Jason Jason revealed his plan for survival was exercise: "400 wide-arm, wide-leg press-ups and 200 sit-ups - that's my relief," he told us. In truth, we haven't kept count of quite how many wide-arm, wide-leg press-ups Jason has performed, but he has kept his word. His escape from the confines of the House has been in exercise - along with his vanity ritual and his world class snoozing. When he hasn't been first in bed, or bitching with Victor, he's been in the garden, running up and down in his singlet, doing his wide-legged press-ups, or doing his wide-mouthed chair lift. Dan When we asked Dan what his survival plan was, he answered, "Don't have one!" It looks like Dan has been playing it by ear. He's adjusted to what's going on, keeping a lower profile to begin with, and coming out of himself when he's at his most comfortable. Dan has remained independent throughout, not forming alliances as some housemates have and not changing his behaviour in a tactical manner, more as a natural adjustment to changing circumstances. Nadia Nadia told us her plan to survive was to "have a laugh and survive with humour." Nadia has probably put more hours into laughing than Jason has into covering up his balding patch. Her trademark cackle is one of the most memorable soundtracks of the House. When her mood is not suppressed by the absence of nicotine, Nadia could erupt into laughter at any moment. Nadia is surviving just as she said she would. She's always looking for the funny side of things, unless cigarettes are involved. Cigarettes are no laughing matter, apparently. Focused? Hmmm... Shell Shell revealed "Lots of wine and cigarettes," was the masterplan for her survival. Shell has been relying on cigarettes to get her through, but the supply of wine has been out of her control. As a result she's had to draw more on her reserves of tolerance and patience and, when faced with confrontation, tears. Shell has kept busier than most of the housemates, doing more cooking than anyone else and contributing to the cleaning. This may have been part of her coping mechanism, in the absence of unlimited booze. Stuart When asked about his plan for survival, Stuart said, "Be myself, remember it's just a game, it's not real-life stuff, keep focused on what's going on. Be true to myself." If he had said, "Enjoy every minute" he would have been spot on. Stuart has been true to himself but whether he's been focused on what's going on is another matter. He's been enjoying everything to the fullest, whether it's a bowl of cereal, or dressing up as a cowboy. It's hard to tell whether Stuart's remembered it's a game or not. It's hard to imagine him acting any other way. But his reluctance to be observed being intimate with Michelle suggests he's very aware of the cameras. Source: http://channel4.com/bigbrother |
