A family of 13 are hoping to find a new home because they just can't take being crammed any more.
Michelle and Robert Neasham have 11 children between them and they are struggling to cope with their four-bedroom council house – which has just one bathroom. Their brood – aged from two to 17 – have to queue for the loo every morning, while the younger children eat on the floor. 'We have had enough. It's a total nightmare living here. None of us have any privacy,' said Mrs Neasham. The family, from Felling in Tyne on Wear, receive £2,269 a month in benefits and are still struggling to make ends meet. They munch through four loaves of bread and 16 pints of milk a day but, to make matters worse, Mr Neasham, 39, lost his job as a tile fitter. 'I can cope with looking after the children but the housing situation gets me,' said Mrs Neasham. Gateshead Housing Company said: 'To date, the tenant has not asked about a possible move and has not joined our HomeChoice scheme to do so.' Original article here |

Gateshead council is a very good housing company, I'd imagine all they need to do is complain to get a better size house.
They could do what the recent family in the news did () and get the council to pay through a private landlord. That, or they could move a few miles south and get on the Sunderland Housing bandwagon which builds new houses for large families. |
