IT'S week two in the X Factor house - and things have been getting STEAMY.

The remaining contestants were given a "date night" after boyband JLS were told by Creative Director Brian Friedman they needed some "flirting training" to prepare them for the EIGHT female dancers they'll have on stage this week.

And although some of the pairings included LAURA WHITE and AUSTIN DRAGE, Phoebe from GIRLBAND and SCOTTBRUTON and RUTHLORENZO and Ortise from JLS - we're told none of them managed any "Romeo moments."

But former geek Austin has been too busy for traditional romance.

After driving everyone insane last week with late night guitar solos, the hunk singer has found his new love of the harmonica - and the one song he can play - to be just as annoying.

Meanwhile Scott has been putting the heartbreak of last weekend behind him.

With colgate-toothed SIMON COWELL admitting he'd picked the wrong song for him on a night of bizarre song choices, a miserable Scott barely scrapped through to the second week.

But sources say he loves the song Simon has given him and he’s had really positive feedback from the vocal coaches.

Our insider said: "He believes that he can right the wrong from last week by blowing the public away this week."

And he must be feeling better because he's been up to his old tricks and playing pranks with pint-sized EOGHAN QUIGG.

But although Scott is feeling better, the competition has got more stressful for ALEXANDRA BURKE.

Not only was the soul star's Mum was admitted to hospital following complications with her dialysis cord, but now there are concerns over her voice.

Our mole says she's struggled this week with a sore throat because she has been belting out her vocals and her lack of voice training has meant she has been using her voice "unwisely."

Our source added: "She has been ordered not to speak this week unless necessary and is also under orders not to sing until Saturday night, meaning Alex’s only way of communicating with the house is by writing notes on a pad!

So vocal coach Yvie Burnett has spent time stripping Alexandra’s singing back to basics, and is re-educating her on the best way to use her voice through vocal exercises.

Ruth has also been suffering this week with a double whammy - a bad cold and recurring back problem.

But the sexy Spaniard is also still on cloud nine following Simon’s comments to her on Saturday and despite having a fiancé Ruth is thrilled she can get the eye of one of music’s most influential men.

Ruth and Alex shared a room with BAD LASHES, so following their departure it’s just been the two of them, but rather than missing Bad Lashes, they are loving having a large room to themselves.

The pair have become so close they are even talking about moving in with each other once the show has finished.

And after the controversy around plastic-faced DANNII MINOGUE's song choice last week, RACHEL HYLTON has chosen to pick her own this week with Dannii’s backing.

Our source added: "She is thrilled with her choice and believes that she’s going to be able to show off her big vocal range.

Scott sounds like a joker. It was mentioned on Xtra Factor last week that he liked to do pranks and how much his room was a mess and everyone would almost trip when walking into his room as he has food and clothes all over the floor haha
