The housemates' burial of their Big Brother time capsule has been a solemn affair.

Before placing their worldly goods in a plastic container destined for a bucket of peat, each housemate took a minute to say a few words about their contributions.

Dan announced that he was burying some "angelic protection spray" - a herbal remedy he uses to achieve "inner peace and calm", along with a lock of his short hair and a self portrait depicting him as "extremely tall with massive feet and wearing a trilby".

"I will place that in the time capsule," he concluded - for some reason choosing to do so in a West Country accent.

Jason offloaded his belongings next - a bit of the gel spray which contributes to his "wacky, spiky hairdo", some earwax and his drawing of himself. "Bon voyage," he sighed as he placed the items in the container. "All the best, as they say in Glasgow," he added in English.

Nadia got rid of a packet of fags containing one leftover cigarette, while Shell added her lighter, commenting that she'd "enjoyed" her smoking time with Nadia.

Last but not least, Stuart added "one single strand of long golden hair", a bobble which he sees as representing his "growth in the house, in terms of hair and as a person", and a picture of himself wearing his Team Handsome power belt.

Next, the gang trooped out to the garden, dumped the canister in a barrel, covered it up in peat and planted a tree on top.

Dan assumed responsibility for saying a final few words.

"I think this tree will represent the growth that many people have gone through in this House and hopefully it will live a long and prosperous life. We are officially naming the tree: Flower."
