Default Dead Set; A second meaning?

Okay, I'm a bit obsessed with Dead Set atm.

But I was thinking about Kelly saying at the end "Congratulations Space, you're the winner of Big Brother."

I thought to myself that it was a weird thing to be your last words to each other.

But at second thoughts I thought: what is the winner? I thought the last person to get voted out by the public, similar to how Space was the last to get mauled by the zombies.

So I came to the conclusion that the winner of Big Brother is always the last one to get "mauled" by the public.

Another reference Tom came up with in another thread was when there was a zombie with his face right up to the TV screen just watching the housemates. This made me think of how the viewers watch the housemates and are so critical it could be perceived as bloodthirsty once it gets to a point.

Agree? Disagree?

I'll go into more detail

- The zombies could represent:

- The public baying for blood (literal representation)
- The public becoming obsessed with the housemates and can't stop watching them
- The public attacking the housemates at every opportunity
- The housemates don't want to leave the house- they don't want to become zombies
- The public being uncontrollable and forgetting the housemates are people
- Mob like mentality the public have

Basically if you watch it again and think of the living as the housemates and the public as the zombies it makes a lot more sense

It was obvious they were trying to make a point with the ending. The winner comment was the most apparent first, then later with the TV screens all showing Kelly, it's just making a comment on today's world and how we're obsessed with watching 'zombies' on TV.

I don't think it does. I think they're not meant to mean something, that's just the way the story ends.

However, i did think that when Kate said "You may as well be watching a mirror" when Riq was watching BB live feed had some reference to the watchers at home.

well i definatly now think the show has a connection to how we the viewers see the housemates and big brother in general for a period of time they become a part of our everyday life and then it ends and we all get on with our lives just like the zombies and housemates connection in the show
